Saudi Arabia said that Sunday will mark the first day of the Islamic Hijri calender month of Dhul Hijja with the Stand at Mount Arafat ritual observed on August 20 followed by Eid Al-Adha the following day.
The announcement was made after the lunar calendar month's crescent was sighted on Saturday, the Kingdom's Supreme Court said.
The ritual, an Islamic holiday, marks the second day of the Hajj pilgrimage, one of the main pillars of the Muslim faith, and precedes the four-day festive Eid Al-Adha holiday.
