Writers’ Forum organizes an evening memorable

An evening, after a lapse of approximately two months, was so enthralling, refreshing, enriching and pleasant that it will be remembered for a very long time to come. This could have been the gift and blessings of the holy month of Ramadan and Eid Al-Adha that the attendance and activities became multidimensional and colourful. WFK organized its monthly meeting at the residence of the President of the Writers’ Forum, Kuwait on June 29, 2018. Attendance of Shri Yashwant Chatpallivar, Second Secretary (PIC & Consular), Mrs. Anita Chatpallivar, Attache (Labour) of Embassy of India and Mr. Devesh Kumar Resident Manager of LIC International, Kuwait added new dimension to the aura of the evening.

At the outset, President of the Forum and Urdu critic, Mrs. Maimuna Ali Chougle addressed the meeting. She made announcements about the two important future activities of 2018 – An evening with the member poets / Writers. She suggested two names for these events schedule for July and November 2018 – Gujrati Poet, Mrs. Chhaya Athavale and Vice President & Urdu Poet, Mr. Syed Qamar Minto. Exact dates and persons will be decided later as per the availability and convenience of the person concerned.

Second major activity announced was the publication of Navratna Part 2. This responsibility was entrusted to Hindi Poet, Mr. Umesh Sharma. Mr. Sharma will formulate guidelines for participation in consultation with the President of the Forum and will reach out to other members for help and their contributions as and when required.

This was followed by usual proceedings of the meeting.

Urdu Poet, Sabir Omer Galsulkar presided over the meeting. Mr. Devesh Kumar and Ms. Farzeen Rumane. were the Guests of honour. Joint Secretary, Mr. Sunil Sonsi conducted the meeting.

In the first session, Mrs. Maimuna Ali Chougle read an article on Kamleshwer Prasad Saxena, a renowned journalist and literary figure of 20th Century. Kamleshwar was a prominent Hindi writer, and scriptwriter for Hindi cinema and television. Among his most well- known work are the films Aandhi, Mausam, Chhoti Si Baat and Rang Birangi. He won the 1979 Filmfare Award for Best Screenplay for Pati Patni Aur Woh. He was awarded the 2003 Sahitya Akademi Award for his cult Hindi novel Kitne Pakistan (translated in English as Partitions), and also the Padma Bhushan in 2005. Maimuna depicted all aspects of Kamleshwer’s literary works in a very stylish manner and exemplary command on the Hindi language. A brief discussion on the presentation concluded the first session.

In the second session of poetry recital, variety of topics, variety of languages and melodious presentations kept everyone spell bound and entertained. Overflowing compliments came from the first timers to the meeting who promised to continue their attendance at all WFK activities in future.

In the presidential note, Sabir Galsulkar expressed his gratitude for the honour he received and appreciated the standard of the Poetry recited by members in so many different languages.

At the end, Chougles were thanked for their hospitality and warmth.
