Air traffic back to normal at Kuwait airport after Sunday's dust storm

KUNA Monday, June 18, 2018
Air traffic back to normal at Kuwait airport after Sunday

Air traffic at the Kuwait International Airport was back to normal Sunday after a few hours of disruption due to unstable weather, said the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

The DGCA resumed traffic at the airport after the improvement of the visibility level, head of the Air Aviation Department at the DGCA Emad Al-Senosi told KUNA.
He, however, forecasted that the unstable weather might continue in the coming four days, but could relatively improve as of Tuesday.

Earlier, traffic at the Kuwait International Airport was "unstable" late Sunday due to a dust storm which brought visibility level to less than 1,000 meters, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said Sunday.

The weather condition had forced the DGCA to delay the taking off and landing of some flights, head of the Air Aviation Department at the DGCA Emad Al-Senosi told KUNA. He, however, stated the majority of the flights at the airport proceeded as scheduled. The speed of wind hit 60 km/h., bringing down visibility to less than 1,000 meters, and stirring waves and dust storms, he noted.
