Senate Investiture Ceremony at ICSK-A Squadron of Young Leaders

"Leadership is not about the next election, it’s about the next generation."

Voting is how we participate in a civic society-be it for the Prime Minister or the Ministers. Similarly we teach our children in school elections how to be good citizens and how to raise their voice for equality and justice .Investiture Ceremony is a milepost in the academic calendar of the schools. Indian Community School (Senior) witnessed the celebratory event on Wednesday, May 9 2018.

Elections are the ‘ultimate empathy machine’ for the Student candidates. The school senate was democratically elected through electronic voting preceded by Campus Campaigning in a distinct manner.

The swearing-in ceremony was blessed by the distinguished guest, Shri. Yashwant Chatpalliwar, Second Secretary, Press Information & Culture, The Embassy of India, and Kuwait. Parents of Senate Members graced the programme with their presence. The chief guest was greeted to the campus with a traditional Indian welcome by the students followed by a guard of honour with the march past by the prefecture to the venue.

The programme commenced with the verses of Holy Quran followed by the Prayer Song by Swaranjali, The ICSK musical band .It was supervened by National Anthems of Kuwait & India. Swaranjali, the school choir presented a welcome song.

Miss Ruth Ann Mathew, Former Vice President, School Senate 2017-2018 gave the welcome speech. She stated: While giving pure academics the due importance it deserves, the school has always endeavoured to provide its students with that little extra something which makes ICSK so unique.

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that.” Traditional lamp was lit by the Chief Guest Shri Yashwant Chatpalliwar. Official declaration of the new houses was made by Dr V.Binumon; Principal & Senior Administrator .It was a proud moment for ICSK (Senior) as the new house names were announced. Students were gleeful as the new symbolic names accrued positivity. Leaders, Rulers, Victors, Winners replaced Seva, Sahyog, Santosh, Shanti Houses.

Chief Guest Shri Yashwant Chatpalliwar rendered the inaugural address. He recollected his school days and advised the students to value the discipline in school life. Dr. V.Binumon, Principal & Senior Administrator presented a memento as a token of gratitude. An inspirational video on leadership, traits of a leader & evolving dreams ensorcelled the audience. Induction of House Mentors was supervened by Oath Taking and Investiture Ceremony. Oath taking of the Senate members was administered by the Principal. The Chief Guest invested badges to the members of the Senate.

The newly invested Senate President Master Moses Kurien Mathew delivered the vote of thanks to the invited guest, school faculty & the students. He vowed to go forward with renewed enthusiasm and confidence, and strive to uphold the name & fame of ICSK. With the promise, the newly elected senate chaperoned to embrace the duties & responsibilities with dedication & perseverance.
