Indian Cabinet nod for death penalty for raping children below 12

IANS Saturday, April 21, 2018

The Indian Cabinet, at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Saturday approved an ordinance on the death penalty for those convicted of raping children below the age of 12.

The decision came a day after the Ministry of Women and Child Development told the Supreme Court that it was proposing the death penalty for those convicted of raping children.

The Ministry had told the apex court that the government was "sensitive to the plight of young children" brutally abused in the most horrific manner, and proposed to amend the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act by introducing the death penalty to the convicts of child rapes.

The Cabinet move came in the backdrop of nationwide outrage over the rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir, and other instances in different parts of the country including a nine-year-old girl in Surat.

The POCSO Act was formulated in order to effectively address sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of children.

Friends,
Lets change our mentality....outlook towards a girl, woman, then only real society changes. You can bring whatever law, death penalty, shoot at sight, castrate the ........................change mindset from killing females when they are in the womb, asking huge sums of dowry from a girl''s father/mother, not take advantage of triple talaq, hitting ladies, and most importantly unless we show respect to a lady, how can my child do the same? Think about it.

They will rape 13 and 14 yr old from now on to get away with death penalty. Death penalty should be for all rape cases. Immediately their manhood should be cut off and after 1-2 yrs lingering in jail that way, they should be hanged. They should be made to feel pain and fear everyday of their lives after committing such heinous crimes.

Not just death penality. That part which is used for rape should be cut and he should live without that for some years in jail then hang him.

They cant afford to do that because most of ruling govt are single. This law was also brought only after big hue and cry was created and was not pro-active.

No use evne you make hundreds of laws unless you implement it.
There was already law amended by UPA in Nirbhaya case.
And Unnao rape happened, but police refused to register complaint against M.L.A. and many rapes still continuing...
BJP govt makes laws for public and withdraws hundreds of cases against their party members... Hypocrisy....

Why just penalty for raping children below 12 years? Death penalty should be for all who are accused of rape.
