MAK holds “MAK Champions Trophy 2018 –Season 2” Volley Ball & Throw Ball Tournament

MOGAVEERS ASSOCIATION KUWAIT, Affiliated to Indian embassy Kuwait, is the community welfare association of non-resident Mogaveeras, based in Kuwait. For the second time MAK organised, National level Volleyball & Throw Ball Tournament under the title of “MAK Champion Trophy 2018 “on 25th February 2018. The tournament was held at Qadisiya Sports Club, Hawally, Kuwait.

The tournament coincided with the National day of Kuwait celebration. The weather was pleasant, the participants & the MAK members were all geared up for the tournament.

The day long tournament commenced at 7.30 am with a grand opening ceremony. On behalf of MAK Management Committee Mrs Poonam Mendon, the General Secretary of MAK welcomed all the distinguished guests, participating teams, MAK Management Committee, MAK members and all the sports enthusiasts.

The chief Guest of the day was Mrs.Nancy D’Souza, Manager & coach of Team Q8 Steel birds. She’s been working in Kuwait Airways for 27 years. The Coach & founder of Team Q8 Steel birds.Shes been actively participating in all the matches in spite of her busy schedules & encourages all the young players.

The guest of Honour for the day were Mr.WilsonDsouza- President Tulkoota, Kuwait, Mr.Madhu Raveendran-Manager Boubyan Co & Mr.Roshan Quadras Ex-president of Pangala Association Kuwait. All the guests were presented with a floral bouquet as a mark of respect. This was followed by the National anthem of Kuwait and India. The guests conveyed their best wishes and good luck to the participating teams and organizers.

Mr.Ramesh Kidiyoor, President of MAK in his speech welcomed the gathering and stressed the importance of playing with true sportsman spirit and conveyed his best wishes to all the participating teams.

The guest along with the president of MAK Mr.Ramesh Kidiyoor inaugurated the tournament by cutting the ribbon & releasing the ball.

A total of 7 Volleyball teams and 5 Throwball teams participated and fought for the coveted trophy and cash rewards.

The volleyball inaugural first round match started between Team AL Ghanim Security & Boubyan Strikers & the first round of throw ball inaugural match was between Team Blazing Warriors & Team Dragon Queens .The teams played with full enthusiasm and viewers enjoyed and experienced the spectacular show. As the day progressed matches kept rolling one after another. The Sponsorers of the event were Badar al Samaa & Design Guru.

The referees for the day were Mr.Alexander Mathew & Mr.Suresh Yerumbu Shivappa.

The scorers for Throw Ball Team were Mrs.Geetha Suvarna & Mr.Nithin Suvarna.

The scorers for Volley ball team were Mr.Kishore Kotian & Mr.Rakshith Suvarna.

The announcements was done by Mr.Girish Mehta & Mr.Purandara Manchi.

Sumptuous Breakfast, Lunch & snacks was provided by RoyalStar Caterers.

The Volley Ball ended with a finale of Final matches between Team Al Sayer Toyota & Team Boubyan Strikers. After a tough Battle between the two strong teams, Team Al Sayer Toyota bagged the Winners Trophy & Team Boubyan Strikers were declared the First Runner up.The second runners up trophy was won by Al Ghanim Security. MAK Player of the tournament for Volley Ball was secured by Mr.Rakesh Sekhar E of Team Al Sayer Toyota.

On the other hand, throw ball tournament ended with League matches. Team Dragon Queens defeated the opponents and grabbed the Winners trophy. 1st Runners up was won by team Blazing Warriors and Team Starz stood up as the 2nd Runners. MAK Player of the tournament for throw ball was secured by Ms. Marliyn Pereira from team Dragon Queens.

The guest along with MAK management committee awarded the trophies and medals to winners, runners up team & the individual achievers.

In her vote of Thanks Mrs.Poonam Mendon thanked each and everyone who were responsible for the success of the tournament, Participants,sponsor’s, organisers, MAK Vounteers, MAK management Committee & Executive Committee. Finally a special thanks was given to the Management & Staff of Qadsiya Sports Club for the awesome venue.
