Kuwait keen on protecting rights of foreign labor force

Out of its respect for human rights, Kuwait is keen on protecting the labor force working on its soil, said Deputy Director General of the Public Authority for Labor Force Abdullah Al-Mutautah on Monday.

Since its establishment in 2013, the Authority worked on regulating the labor market according to laws in civil and private sectors and in light of Kuwait's commitment to international human rights agreements, as well as the ones of the International Labor Organization (ILO), Al-Mutautah told a host of diplomatic mission representatives in the country.

Moreover, Kuwait had signed a series of agreement in this regard, including 19 of the ILO, he noted, pointing out that Kuwait had gone a long way as far as labor-related legislations were concerned.

Despite the fact that the old 1964 law on labor regulations was "distinguished" on the Arab level, yet, Kuwait saw that an updated version of the law was necessary, in order for the country to keep up with developments and match its current international status, he said. The original enactment of the labor law was in 1964 to regulate the work force in the private sector. The amended 2011 version came mainly to ensure a fair treatment for all blue-collared jobs.

The law contains all essential rules and regulations that an employee needs to know before accepting a contract. It also contains significant guidelines and procedures that the employer should follow to make sure that an individual is a competent worker and is authorized to work in Kuwait.

All these are only for attracting the good books of the UN. The whole world knows that the actual treatment given to an expatriate employee in Kuwait is the worst as compared to any other Country in the world.
The treatment given by M/s. Kharafi National and that of the Government of Kuwait is a standing example. The UN and the World Human Resource Organisations should rethink their decisions to even consider Kuwait in their Umbrella.

I dont believe that Kuwait can keep labour laws. Most of the companies have big wastha and labours are loosing their life without getting paid for their rights. Mushrif Trading and Contracting Company is one of them. Let Mighty God punish those criminals.

Kuwait's labor law is intended to support workers. Still it is a mystery that some reputed companies (including Kharafi National) are continuously violating labor laws. Many employees left Kuwait without getting their service benefits & pending salaries!!! Majority have dark future ahead of them as these companies enjoy "vaastha" to bypass labor laws. In their old age many employees cannot get a new job & they are left penniless to lead their life ahead.
