Indian Embassy provides free ticket to over 500 Kharafi workers

Monday, February 5, 2018

Indian Embassy in Kuwait provided free air ticket to more than 500 distressed Indian workers from Kharafi Company to travel to India. Indian Embassy also gave conveyance allowance to these workers to reach their home form their nearest airport.

Indian Embassy is continuously following up the issue with relevant government agencies. Further talks are on with Public Authority for Manpower to settle the workers issue with the company. It is also learned that the steps are being taken to suspend company’s security deposit with ministry to settle the financial assistance for the workers.

Thousands of distressed Indians from Kharafi Company with expired residencies were fighting for months for their unpaid salaries and dues to travel back to India. Earlier India's external affairs minister Dr Gen V K Singh held series of discussion with Kuwaiti authorities to find a lasting solution for the issue of distressed Indian workers at Kharafi Company. Followed by this Kuwait government had announced amnesty where by the expatriates without valid documents can leave the country without paying fine.

After a long drama something for Kharafi employees. Why no action for other companies who are playing with employees money. example Mushrif Trading and Contracting Company- Kuwait

Though late, our embassy's effective involvement at this stage is worth appreciating. The expenses should be charged to respective companies. Also, ensure the service benefits & pending salaries of each & every employee is fully paid by violating companies. If not, in future many more companies might ill-treat their employees. Though most of the companies are capable of clearing all payments, some managers are being 'over-smart' & trying to cheat the employees. By doing so, those managers are getting some temporary benefits & promotions.

Its good to note that Embassy is providing free tickets to Kharafi workers. However Indian Embassy has to ensure that all the workers are paid their long pending dues without fail by from Kharafi's security deposits with the Ministry of Labour.

Leaving Kharafi scot free will set a bad precedence to other contracting companies to cheat their marginal workers.

Hay,

Embassy should issue these tickes free for all not only Kharafi Employees. Because all who wants to leave country during aminesty period they only after suffer from thier employers.

Embassy shold not ask money from them.

Thanks.

What about other than Kahrafi? They also have problem with their employer, so Embassy should not charge for any one who wants to leave the country for any reason.

A very wise & generous decision by the Indian Embassy, it will be a great relief to the distressed workers who haven't received their salaries for months and their indemnities. Also, expecting the embassy to resolve their grievances in order to get their unpaid salaries and indemnities at the earliest.
