Kuwait Cricket gave rousing welcome to   U-19 team

Kuwait Cricket, the official governing body of Cricket in Kuwait, celebrated the overwhelming success of the National Under 19 team at the recently concluded ACC Asia Cup Qualifiers held in Malaysia in a private event at beautifully renovated Palms Beach Hotel and Spa in Bida'a on 27th Nov 2017.

Following the Kuwait teams successful run to the finals of the tournament, the President Mr Haider Farman, VP Mr Faisal Al Marrzouq, and Chairman of the Council Mr Mahmood Bastaki who was also the Head of Delegation to Malaysia presented the entire squad with cash awards of USD500 each to celebrate and reward the achievement and months of hard work. Kuwait U-19 finished as runners up against a mighty UAE side and brought the first trophy back to the State of Kuwait in the juniors category.

Kuwait Cricket's Mr Sajid Ashraf, who was a senior member of the delegation to Malaysia, conducted the ceremony and gave special thanks to the board and council members who ensured that the support and preparation provided to the squad reached unprecedented levels ensuring their success.

He also thanked Principal sponsors IDP IELTS Kuwait, Ashraf Group and MGA for their ongoing support as well as Gold Sponsors Gulf Consult, Kuwait Swedish & Al Hafiz for their consistent efforts in domestic as well as International tournaments.

Digital Partner Channels Media and sports equipment sponsors AHS Sports as well as Mahaas Sports were acknowledged for their support as well. All the sponsors present on the occasion were presented with a memento of appreciation by the KC Board.

Social Media channels who have been actively promoting and increasing awareness for cricket in Kuwait were also honored by the board through mementos of appreciation. IndiansinKuwait, Kuwait UPTO DATE VOOP Media Kuwait - Voice of Overseas Community Kuwait PAGE & Hala Pakistan etc were all recognized for the increase in exposure experienced by fans and followers over the past year.

KC Director of Technical and Legal Affairs Mr Sudhakar Shetty, who was appointed as team manager for the tour, presented his detailed tour and performance report to the party and paid special tributes to the coaches Tahir Khan and Jude D'Silva for their extensive work over the five month period. He also thanked the Director of Juniors Cricket; Harshith Vora, for the work put in to bring about the positive changes to the juniors cricket setup which paved the way for the successful tournament.

Abdul Haseeb of Kuwait U-19 was the best batsman of the tournament by ACC and was deservingly chosen as the best player of the tournament by Kuwait Cricket in the presentation ceremony.

The President Mr Haider Farman gave an encouraging & motivational speech to the young lads for their upcoming challenges in international cricket highlighting that "the big progress is there with the runners up trophy but the real challenge is to bring the winners trophy home in the future for which we must remain hungry".With several changes having taken place to the KC setup over the past 24 months and with renewed focus and vigor towards the development of the game, this achievement is sure to be a springboard to many future successes.

Kuwait Cricket is now gearing up for ACC U-16 Championship scheduled to take place from the 5th of January until the 14th of January in the UAE. Kuwait is placed with Bahrain, Iran & Saudi Arabia in Group A whereas UAE, Oman & Maldives will battle it out in Group B. The finals and some of the important league matches will take place at the historic Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
