TeamIndus - the official Indian team in the world’s largest competition to send a robotic explorer to the Moon, will be demonstrating their spacecraft for the first time in Kuwait at Shaastrotsav this Friday, the organisers said in a press meet held here.

The much awaited Festival of Science – Shaastrotsav, will be held this weekend on December 8th from 10:00 am to 7:30 pm at Al Zumerida Hall, Bida'a, Opp Salwa. The event is organised by Kuwait chapter of NSS College of Engineering (Palakkad) Alumni Association and popular community portal IndiansinKuwait.com.

Team Indus is the only Indian team attempting to win the Google Lunar X Prize mission announced in 2007. The mission, often referred to as "Moon 2.0", is a challenge that calls for participating teams to design and land a spacecraft on the Moon. The craft is required to travel more than 500 meters (1,600 ft) on the lunar surface and send photographs to Earth. TeamIndus was one of five teams selected to compete in the Milestone prizes and successfully won $1M as a Milestone prize for their landing technology, last year, organisers said. "TeamIndus' Mission is a celebration of all things great about India – the audacious goal, the young bright engineers, the can-do entrepreneurial spirit, partners who commit their resources, and the new breed of world-class entrepreneurs who have supported this mission", organisers added.

Team Indus will make a demonstration of their prestigious "#HarIndianKa MOONSHOT" in Kuwait for the public during teh Shaastrotsav event on this Friday, December 8th.

"We have lined up many exciting events for the full day event, which includes Robotic Football tournament, Rubic Cube solving contest, etc in addition to various science exhibitions by students of 17 Indian school in Kuwait" organisers said. Another 15 teams are participating in the Open category science exhibition. In addition to students, professional associations including ASSE and IEI are also exhibiting various science projects during the event. Kuwait Engineers Association also will be showcasing their project at the event. Super 30 fame Ananth Kumar will be conducting a key note speech during the evening function.
