GIS Celebrates the Annual Athletic Meet 2017

The 24th Annual Athletic Meet of Gulf Indian School, Kuwait was held on Thursday 16th November 2017. Mrs. Susan Roy, Director, United Indian School was the Chief Guest for the Athletic Meet. The Administrative Manager of Al Faisal Educational Establishment Mr. Sreekumar Pillai and Principal, New Gulf Indian School, Mr. Pradap Felix were also present to grace the occasion.

The event started with the Recitation from the Holy Quran followed by National Anthems of Kuwait and of India.

It was a great sight indeed to watch the enthusiastic students of Sathya, Seva, Jyoti and Santhi Houses marching to the beats of the music behind their respective leaders.

Principal Mrs. Shyamala Divakaran, welcomed the Chief Guest and the audience and thanked the parents for their unstinted support. She acknowledged with immense pride and joy, the achievements of the students in various competitions like Quiz, sports and Art. She also appreciated the effort of the senior P.E. teacher Mrs. Mariamma Santhosh for motivating and training the students for the CBSE Kuwait Cluster Athletic Meet in which many students were qualified for the CBSE National Athletic Meet.

Mrs. Susan Roy, the Chief guest in her address congratulated the students for their outstanding performance and participation that make the institution attain greater goals in each passing year. She appreciated the school’s effort for conducting the Sports Day every year.

Followed by her speech, Mrs. Susan Roy declared the Athletic Meet open.

The students showcased their unity and physical strength in their mass drills and in various track events. The Drill Display by class III & class IV using colourful props was a spectacular sight to watch.

The individual champions of classes III & IV:

Class III - Radhin Afras - Seva House

- Sree Vaiga - Seva House

Class IV - Jakes Mathew - Sathya House

- Haaniya Hussain - Sathya House

The individual champions in the various categories are:

UNDER 12 – SUB JUNIORS

Boys - Fahad Ali Bhuto – VI B (Seva House)

Girls- Arunima Anil Kumar- V D (Sathya House)

UNDER 14 – JUNIORS

Boys - Mohamed Falah Basheer- VIII B (Santhi House)

Girls- Neaha Mariya Jose- VII C (Jyothi House)

UNDER 16 – SENIORS

Boys- Tony Tomy - X E (Jyothi House)

Girls- Angel Tresa - X E (Sathya House)

UNDER 19 – SUPER SENIORS

Boys - Joyal Eason- XI C (Santhi House)

Girls - Iman Irshad Khan- XI C (Seva House)

Anju Prakash - XI A (Jyothi House)

The audience was much excited by the sense of sportsmanship that the students displayed during the track events. As a result, the parents came forward in a jubilant mood and enjoyed the race that was conducted exclusively for them. The children were thrilled and felt proud to see their parents sharing their joy on that momentous occasion. The participation of our staff on the track event, doubled the joy of the students and the spectators. ‘The Best House’ trophy was lifted by ‘Jyothi’ House.

This Athletic Meet came to an end with the distribution of prizes which was followed by a vote of thanks by the Vice Principal, Mrs. Kallianikutty Rajan.
