Original academic certificates needed for residency renewal

Wednesday, October 11, 2017

Expatriate will have to provide their attested original certificates to renew their residency visas, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor and Minister of State for Economic Development Hind Al-Sabeeh told. Currently this will be applicable for highly-qualified expatriates and other categories are expected to be covered in this decision following the completion of the relevant study that is ongoing, Minister added.

The discussions about suspending the renewal of residencies for expatriates of marginal specializations are ongoing currently as part of the procedures for organizing the labor market and getting rid of marginal workers who roam the streets in search for work, she said.

Sabeeh stressed that these decisions were meant to protect expat workers from being exploited.

There is a number of workers who forged degree certificates and working as Engineers. Kuwait government should do HR VERIFICATION of all the degree certificate before renewing the residency.

Good that certificate verifying before issuing visa. Once joined the empoyees performance can be evaluated and terminate with black listing.

Engineers & Doctors working directly in K companies with Fake degree should be inside Jail. But ofcourse Gov should seek other effective way to detect attestations.

I dont understand the Logic or the need to submit the same certificates every time expats residence is stamped. Its unnecessary burden on the expats.
I can understand a medical certificate, because someones health can
change any minute but not an educational certificate.

@Azad : Agreed fully with what you said. No respect for those who worked tirelessly for the development of this country. Every second day there is new stupid law just to mint money by squeezing expats.

well Kuwait.. with the current and upcoming insanely retarded policies, I don't think this law will be applicable much as educated and sensible expats will not be willing to stay in Kuwait for long now.. and all u will be left with will be plenty of unskilled, uneducated expats who are misfits for their country and they wont be having a university degree..

and one more thing.. the govt seems to be soo concerned about the education level of expats but are least bothered about the salaries given to them.. real estate companies are looting the expats of rent.. and govt trying to exploit expats in every possible way.. Kuwait is been ranked the worst place for expats for the past 4 years..

please grow up and look at other sensible countries around you like UAE or Qatar and all and learn some humility and sence they put onto the development of their country..

if u don't want expats, the stop issuing new visas.. isn't it simple..

the expats already here have contributed many years of their life in the development of this country to its current state which used to be nothing but a desert many years back when kuwait had only kuwaitis.. it was expats who built Kuwait to what it is now.. we deserve some respect..!!

@ Jitesh, what matters if you have the "original" certificate. You can submit it whenever they ask for it. Only the ones with fake certificates arranged the visa through wasta will be in trouble.

This they are asking, because there are many with fake certificates obtained the visa illegally.

Can any sane person explain me the logic.... if I have got residency for the first time based on a university degree that has been attested and verified by all concerned Kuwaiti authorities, does it change in subsequent year that they have to verify it every year? Cant they said if only the person is claiming a higher qualification then his initial application that he can be asked to produce his original

@ Fakhri Bohra : Attested document means, academic certificates verified by Ministry of Higher Education & Ministry of Foreign Affairs of country of issuance and attested by Kuwait Embassy and/or Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Kuwait. For the arabic translation they accept photocopy of the same, unless the ministry staff insist on original arabic translattion being cranky or off mood.

very...very...very good decision..... I am so happy
now do one more thing from the other end stop issuing visa for top three national (complete ban their entry ) and start deporting them till they don't fit the quota required then only so many issues will be solved make it four times expensive for them to stay here only for
(TOP THREE EXPATS NATIONALS).

Concerned Ministry in Kwt has got every right to implement such rules. Hope strict action will be taken against the Companies violating labor rules by not paying the resigned employees their salary and indemnity. Many workers are waiting unpaid for more than 10 months to go on exit. Our Embassy approached the authorities long back; but so far there is no outcome.

These people are seriously insane. There justification is absurd. All countries in the world need to reject visa application by Kuwaitis to their country.

What kind of law makers this country have ?
On the one hand this minister streesing she want to protect expats from being exploited.
Same time expats have to provide attested original certificate every time that means 5 KD stamp from foreign affairs & embassy charges.

While issuing Visa they always verify this, then why during residency renewal ?

What is definition of highly-qualified expatriates, expatriates of marginal specializations etc etc.....

Nice step, kindly also take care of the matter that if a qualified person is doing a blue color or very low level job then what is the reason. Many qualified peoples are stuck and bound to do labor jobs, due to residency articles \ policies.
