Kuwait Fire Service Directorate KFSD clarified that they have no plan to ban certain type of elevator in Kuwait. He was responding to some rumor on social media that KFSD issued an order to remove lifts with manual doors across teh country.

According to KFSD, all elevators get checked and examined by KFSD before issuing a license for any facility. KFSD also mandates property owners to sign maintenance contracts with lifts maintenance companies certified by KFSD to ensure users’ safety. Officials explained that some lifts have automatic doors while others have semi-automatic doors (manual ones). Both are regularly inspected by KFSD. Official also stressed that KFSD had not issued an order to remove lifts with manual doors.
