Indian expatriates topped the list of sending remittances from United Arab Emirates (UAE) with a total cash of 12.95 billion dirham (apprx. 23,000 Crore) send to India during the first three months of the year, news agencies reported.

According to report, money outflows from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where 80 percent of the 10.5 million residents are foreigners, grew by 1.1 percent year-on-year to reach 37.1 billion dirham.

Indians top the list with a 34.9 percent of total remittances, followed by Pakistani nationals accounting for 9.4 percent, then Filipinos at 7.3 percent during the first three months.

Up to 75 percent of total remittances, amounting to 27.8 billion dirham, were conducted through money exchange companies during this period, an increase of 2.7 percent from the same period last year. Twenty-five percent thereof was done through banks.

Considering the cost of living in the UAE, this news is absolutely false and bland. The only difference in UAE and Kuwait is that UAE is an open economy where any one can purchase flats , houses, etc. unlike Kuwait. But otherwise cost of living is very high. The above remittances may include currency for business exchanges also. So prior to first publishing any news , they need to check the full details of the story and also confirm whether it is true or false.

Why to publish such reports in the headlines and then why later on worry about the repurcussions?? These type of news only make the host countries jealous of the expats. After all, all the remittances sent to home countries are self-earned and its purely a personal matter of saving/spending/remitting to home countries. Who has right to interfere is such matters??

Are these things happening in India? How much one earns, spends and saves and deposits in banks?? Personal decisions like saving, spending and remittances should not be published as news.

LADIES & GENTLEMEN.... these types of reports will make you proud... but on the other hand these reports cuts like a knife for some ministers and government officials and than they start thinking of ways to put restrictions specially the recent proposal to impose 5% tax on expat remittances. It's better such reports are not published.

Indians are richest among all expats in Gulf Countries. The governments are really kind for not imposing any taxes on remittances.
God bless them with peace and prosperity.
Back in our country big mouthed criminals looting poor by taxing everything .
