Indian Ambassador hosts farewell meeting for Deputy Chief of Mission

Indian Ambassador Sunil Jain hosted a farewell luncheon in honor of the Deputy Chief of Mission at Indian Embassy Sri Shubashis Goldar at India House. DCM Mr Goldar is leaving Kuwait and retiring as a career diplomat after completing 37 years of service in Indian Foreign Service (IFS).

The farewell event was attended by a cross section of community members and embassy officials. On the occasion, Ambassador Jain applauded Goldar for the commendable work he has done as Deputy Chief of Mission for the Indian community in Kuwait.

In his vote of thanks, Goldar said he was honored by the well-organized farewell meeting.

Mr Goldar was earlier served at the Indian Embassy in Kuwait during the Iraqi invasion time. Recalling the harrowing experience in the aftermath of the Invasion, he said, "I could also be part of one of the largest evacuations in the world. We could manage to evacuate 190,000 Indians from Kuwait over a period of 39 days which was a record”. "Today the community has grown from 160,000 of 1990 to 950,000", he said.

Mr Goldar was very much involved in solving various issues faced by the community members, especially the labor issues and the problems faced by Indian nurses. Ambassador Sunil Jain wished him all the success for his retired life.
