Travelling like a Parisian

A trip to Paris is thé perfect get-away. One weekend or a couple of days in Paris will be enough to make you feel one with the city and forget about the daily routine back home. Wander around, experience the arty culture, shop until you drop, visit the highlights, just relax in a city park and enjoy the stunning view from the Eiffel tower. The trip to Paris was planned by my dad himself, exclusively for our family. This trip to paris taught me a lot about travelling carefully.before travelling to paris I heard a lot of myths about travelling to paris like it is really unsafe, full of pickpockets and so on but on going there I really didn’t find anything as scrary as what I had heard…these tips here are something I learnt from my own experience.

Transportation-

Metros are one of the easiest ways to travel Paris. There are automatic machines that allow you to select English as your language of choice and walk you through purchasing tickets. It may take a little trial and error the first time but if you are patient you should easily be able to figure it out. The metro system is very extensive and easy to use so get a map and just jump in. Most times you probably have to wait less than 5 minutes for trains. It is also one of the most efficient ways of cutting down costs. You can purchase a one day pass at any station that can be used for buses, metro and RERs. One day passes are better as it costs about only 16 euros per head whereas a metro ticket costs 3 euros per heads per journey. Cabs/taxis are pretty much very expensive. It costs around 70 euros (around 23 KD) from the airport to Disneyland.

The French-

-most of the people encountered will be friendly and helpful. There would be a few exceptions especially in high end stores and hotels. Always greet people with a simple Bonjour and attempt use a little French when asking for something.

crime-

you might have heard from other visitors that they had seen various types of schemes. The key here is do not be a target. If you carry a back pack or hand bag, make sure it is securely zipped, and held close to your body. If you have a back pack applying small pad locks to some of the zippers might be good. Don't place any money or wallets in your pockets even if you do place it in your front pocket. If approached by people with petitions to sigh and just ignore them. It is very important NOT to engage these people in any way. If you say anything a simple NO is all and then either keep walking or if you are seated keep saying NO. Any engagement gives them further opportunity to harass you and they will.

Food-

Well one of the things most time consuming things about being in Paris would be looking for restaurants. Google maps do help you why would you want to stick to indian foods when there is a lot more to try. Learn a country’s culture through its food. Paninis, pizzas, crepes, macaroons, coffee, baguette sandwiches, candies apples and a lot more are the most prominently found food items.(all the food items mentioned here are either vegetarian or come in vegetarian flavors too).
