74 percent of public sector employees are Kuwaitis

74 percent of the total workforce in Public sector are Kuwaiti national,s the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) figures states. According to the sttistics, the total number of government employees reached 338,400 as of the beginning of this year in which 252,800 are Kuwaitis and were 85,670, non-Kuwaitis. In this the number of Arab government employees was 50,350, while non-Arabs numbered 31,180, in addition to only 4,141 from GCC countries including 3,636 from Saudi Arabia.

The statistics also showed that female government employees (of all nationalities) were 191,000 (56 percent) versus 146,000 male employees (44 percent). Female Kuwaiti employees numbered 151,000 compared to 101,000 male Kuwaiti employees.

Largest number of Kuiwatis are employed with Ministry of Education (MoE) where total 110,887 people are employed with 78,000 citizens, followed by the Ministry of Health (MoH) where 62,000 are employed including 26,000 citizens.

In Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) 20,000 employees are working which includes 1,500 expats.

Largest number of expats in the public sector (over 35,000) worked for MoH, followed by over 30,000 at MoE.
