Kozhikode Fest 2017 on 3rd March at Indian Central School, Abbasiya.
His Excellency Mr. Sunil Jain, Indian Ambassador to Kuwait will inaugurate the event. Mr. Pavithran Theekkuni, famous Malayalam poet who has been selected for the award instituted by the Association in the name of noted Malayalam lyricist and screenwriter, Late Gireesh Puthenchery, will be honoured on the occasion. Mr. Pavithran Theekkuni, currently a member of Kerala Sahitya Academy is the author of 24 books and has received 27 prizes for literary excellence including Kerala Sahitya Academy Award, Edassery Award and Asan prize. His books are included in the syllabus of many Universities in Kerala. His latest book ‘kadalchirakulla pranayathumpikal’ will be released on the occasion.
Besides cultural activities, the Association has been carrying out various humanitarian work for the benefit of its members and the society at large. Under the ‘Karunyam’ scheme, Association helps people suffering from serious ailments with financial assistance for treatment. Association also has a Family Benefit Scheme to help members’ families in the unfortunate event of the death of members. Association could so far provide timely financial assistance to families of 10 members who lost their lives (including 2 members in 2016). We have also scheme to provide instant financial aid to members in case of accidents. We have so far provided financial assistance of around Rs.49 lakh (including 17 lakhs in the last one year) under Karunyam and family benefit schemes. We are associating with ‘Compassionate Kozhikode’ Project by providing financial assistance towards projects undertaken in Kuthiravattom Mental hospital. In view of the various charity activities undertaken in Kozhikode District in Kerala State, Kozhikode District Association was honoured by Kozhikode Jilla Panchayat President in a function organized in Kuruvattoor Panchayat.
Association Ladies wing- ‘Mahilavedi’ has been very active and organized various activities including Medical Camp for the benefit of members and the public, counselling session for children and parents, mathrubhasha classes and charity activities of their own.
A musical programme lead by playback singer Mr. Nishad and famous ‘mappilapattu’ singer Mrs.Rehana will be held in connection with Kozhikode Fest 2017. The duo of Mr. Shihabshan and Ms. Shabana will add variety to the musical concert. Famous mimicry artist and film actor Nirmal Palazhi and his team of Mr.Pradeep Bal and Mr. C.T. Kabeer will also entertain the audience. Mr. Sarith Sukumaran, violinist with his skilled performance will provide a different experience to the crowd.
Distinguished personalities from different walks of life will attend the event. Association invites everyone to witness the mega program that will be a treat for their eyes and ears.
