Salmiya Indian Model School, Kuwait organized 1st SIMS OPEN FOOTBALL TOURNAMEN on the occasion of 68th Indian Republic Day.
The tournament was inaugurated on 26th January and concluded on 28th January 2017.
The teams under six age categories were invited to register. Four categories of boys (under 8, 10, 12 and 14) Girls (under 14 and under 19). There was an overwhelming response as more than sixty teams from different Indian Schools and private clubs registered. There were expatriates as well as some Kuwaitis too.
These three days were very hectic as matches were played for more than twelve hours a day.
All semi finals and finals were played on 28th except girls as they finished on the first day.
Dr. Anis Ahmad the director of SIMS welcomed all the guests and dignitaries. He also announced that this event will become An Annual event and that from Next Year it will be a Running Trophy.
Mr. Ibrahim Ahmed Dashti was the Chief Guest for the prize distribution function.
Mrs. and Mr. Aijaz Sarfraz CEO of Sahara Air-conditioning, Mr. Waleed Managing Director Al masafi, Mr. N. Ameer Ahmed Manager Travel Club, Mr. Balram Srinivasan HR ManagerMaritime & Mercantile Company were the guests of honor.
The program started with the welcome address by the Director SIMS Dr. Anis Ahmad. He also announced that this tournament will be an annual event and the trophy will be a Running Trophy looking at the grand success of the event.
Mrs. Geeta Redu HOD Sports anchored the prize distribution ceremony and Dr. Shyam proposed the vote of thanks.
It was a grand success and it was possible only due to the cooperation of all the coaches, parents and players and the officials of the tournament.
