“Inter school Elocution – ICS Salmiya and DPS are winners”

Speech is a powerful tool; Churchill knew its power more than most. He believed in romantic power of speeches. He wrote in his journal “If a man’s oratory was powerful enough, he would become an independent force”. A speech is not a mere combination of words, it’s a vision, an idea, a philosophy and wisdom that lasts for centuries.

A beautiful speech is music to one’s soul. rapid succession of waves of sound and vivid pictures. Friday Forum’s 11th Annual Elocution contest recreated the authentic aura of those classical speeches with noble ideas of Islam.

Each Speech personified nobility and humility of Islamic values.

Magnitude of any event is often justified by quality of participants. With uniquely talented students participating from 13 different Indian schools of Kuwait, the event was truly magnificent.

The event Started with a beautiful Quran recitation by a wonderful kid Hima Jameela.

The first event of the day was Juniors elocution contest. Twenty-three students from thirteen schools participated. The topic given was “Islam and Environment Protection”. A unique topic often underestimated in the modern life cycle.

From the first contestant to the last, each speaker exhibited unique aura and skill which grabbed attention of everyone. The passion and vigor of each participant fueled the hidden environmentalist in the audience.

“What have I done for the environment?” a question that lingered constantly in the minds of every audience. To choose the best three among those gifted participants was a herculean task for the judges. All the Three judges of the morning Mr. Afzal Ali, Miss. Shathaa Shamiya and Mr. Bashar Khan reiterated the same conclusion “Very Difficult to choose between these students, they are all equally good”.

In the words of one of the judges Mr.Bashar khan “ I was having a very difficult time to choose the best among these wonderfully talented speakers. I am jealous by the skill exhibited by these wonderful students “.

Such was the intensity and exuberance displayed by each contestant.

At last every contest needs winners so with very small margin between the contestants, three winners were selected.

First prize went to Shoaib Javed Shahna (Delhi Public School), Second prize by grabbed by Yusra Asad Khan (Indian Learners Own Academy), and Third prize went to Mishal Kandapath (Delhi Public School).

A sense of accomplishment and surprise were visible in all the winners.
