Kerala Art Lovers Association, KALA Kuwait 38th annual Generalbody unanimously elected Sugathakumar as President, J. Saji as General Secretary and Ramesh Kannapuram as Treasurer.
The conference conducted at VV Dakshinamoorthy Nagar (Khaitan Indian Community School) was inaugurated by well-known author, humanist and socio-cultural activist John Mathew.
The conference started with welcome song by the arts wing followed by welcome address by Kiran PR, Chairman of the organizing committee. Sugathakumar conveyed condolence message. The venue was decorated with a photo gallery of leaders of progressive movements in India as well as famous personalities who expired in the year 2016
Rajeesh VT, Ratheesh C Pillai, Prajeesh & K Akhilesh who were returning to India were presented with mementos by John Mathew. Presidium consisting R. Naganadhan, KALA President with Saji Thomas Mathew and Asalatha Balakrishnan regulated the sequence of the conference smoothly.
KALA-Kuwait Gen Secretary C.K Noushad presented report for the year 2016 followed by financial report by Treasurer Anil Kookkiri. 16 delegates participated in the discussions on the reports and were passed thereafter.
The conference approved resolutions requesting Kerala Government to raise the pension amount for Gulf returnees, to declare rehabilitation package for the workers returning to India from GCC countries with the impact on oil price crisis etc.
The conference unanimously chose Sugathakumar (President), Nissar KV (Vice President) Saji Janardhanan (Gen Secretary), Praseeth Karunakaran (Joint Secretary) Ramesh Kannapuram (Treasurer), Michael Johnson, Arun Kumar, Musfer, Gijo Dominic as area Secretaries of Abbassiya, Salmiya, Abuhaleefa, Fahaheel respectively, Jiji George (Community Service), Jithin Prakash (Media Secretary), Sunny Saijesh (Literary Secretary), Sajith Kadalundi (Arts Secretary), Nasser Kadalundi (Sports Secretary) along with C. K Noushad, Ajithkumar Nedumkunnam, Rangan, Asaf Ali, Jyothish Cheriyan, V. Anil Kumar, Biju Jose, Raveendran Pilla, Jayan TV, Subha Shine and Tolly Prakash as members of the Central committee.
Santha R Nair, Vanithavedi President and J, Albert of KALA greeted the newly elected office bearers. Newly elected Gen Secretary J. Saji rendered vote of thanks.
