Real Estate Owners Union suggest to allows expats to own apartments in Kuwait

Tuesday, December 27, 2016

Real Estate Owners Union suggested that the prime minister allows expats to own apartments in Kuwait, local media reported. According to report, the union assured that such ownership will not entitle owners to demand citizenship or any other privileges enjoyed by citizens.

Local daily Kuwait Times reported, quoting sources, that the system already exists in some neighboring GCC states and the decision will have a positive impact on various sectors, create more job opportunities for Kuwaiti youth and add value to Kuwait’s economy.

The target of the suggestion was to sell 1,000 apartments to expats annually at a total value of KD 100 million, and that legislators could set proper conditions for such ownership.

Unless permanent residence too is provided then owning an apartment makes no sense. A person will invest his money in buying an apartment and then for some stupid reason if he is deported how can he sell it.

It is a good scheme provided expatriate is allowed stay with his family in Kuwait even after retirement. If not then Government has to pay back fair value and ask them to leave Kuwait. Yield is the expat stayed in own flat without rent and harassment of harris

recently Kuwait govt increased the dependent visa scale from 250 KD to 450 KD, it is going to effect the real estate business very badly. The new upcoming flats will not go if no families are coming to Kuwait.

Wonderful recommendation, our sons & daughters even if they born in Kwt. they went for studies out side Kwt. are not getting a visit visa to visit their parents staying in Kuwait. First let the authorities ensure the basic needs of expatriates then go for bigger things.

Suppose, due to some or other reason, the owner of the flat must leave Kuwait for good in short notice, or company cancelled the residence of that person, the owner of the flat will be in loss. Because, in short notice, if he want to sell his flat, he will not get the right value at all.

As long as the Ownership of the building will
continue in kuwait Owner He or She has the Residence permit. No ownership then Residence will be finished. This is the matter. So you can Transfer the ownership to other person he can get Residence permit.

Its really a good thing if it will implemented. In Dubai also expatriates would be able to purchase buildings.it will increase the cash flow in the business mega structure and will make expatriates cute.
