Guru Smt.Devi Hariharan is a passionate musician whose love for Carnatic music blossomed at a young age. She was trained in the art by acclaimed guru Mani Bhagavathar in her native town Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. Under his tutelage, she mastered the pancharatna kritis and the navavarnams. She has performed at famous stages, like the Nellai Sangeetha Sabha in Tirunelveli, and Delhi numerous times and has won the appreciation of many. She has also learnt the beautiful instrument “Veena” from Guru. Lakshmi under whom she has also had the privilege to showcase her talent in the festivals of various temples. She is a degree holder in B.A. Music, B.Sc. Math and PGDCA.

In Kuwait, She has been actively participating in the Kuwait Carnatic Music Forum’s “Thyagaraja Aradhana” festivals since 2001. She has also performed at the Shruthilayam music festival and the Ragamalika Trinity festival in 2015 and 2016, and the BASS Navarathri music festival in 2015 along with her students. Wanting to pass on her passion for music, she started teaching her children in 2006, who became her first students. She is the founder of “Sharada Sangeetha Vidyalaya”, an institute dedicated to promoting Carnatic music and embedding its cultural value in youngsters. Today, she celebrates her 10 years in teaching with her 30 disciples.
