Our Embassy in Kuwait has simply given long statement here which is already known to almost all through Indian TV channels, but the most important issue "How can we get our currency changed for NRIs is not answered clearly. In a brief telecom conversation they have asked us to follow RBI guidelines or check through local news papers.
When will our Embassy "TRULY CARE" for us I/O living a comfortable life for themselves and touring in high security???
When we will get a chance to "VOTE" here during election times in India???
When will they stop considering our children in schools, collages and universities as any ATM machines due to NRI status???

NRI's coming back to India should be given a facility to exchange their old 500 / 1000 notes at the airport. A limit of 20000/- should be a limit.

All indians shud be informed that the currency u have is now bound to be taxed as government made no changes in its rules for indian currency deposition. And as such we cannot deposit these currency in NRE accounts whenever we go to india , we need to deposit it to savings account showing passports also get changed from rbi counters after 30dec or banks b4 30dec. These notes r not waste u can still return. But take care normal tax will apply.

Dear Nisha
Do not accept any money from your friends. When you will go to bank to exchange it, they will give you only 4000/- new notes and reamaining equivalent money will be deposited in your account with PAN card. So total amount in your account will cross the specified limit on balance, resulting loasing on income tax exemption. You will be paying income tax on the amount (Excess).

Has the embassy even approached the Indian Government about the problems faced by NRIs who won't be traveling any time soon. As everyone is aware, the schools are closed in June to August, and that is when most travel. So, all those who have Indian rupees here, how are they to exchange these currencies. And also how about the exchange houses, who keep Indian rupees ? Most of the time Indian Embassy raises their hands, with little or no effective support to majority of Indians, like in this case.

Looks like Indian Embassy is again not interested in helping fellow Indian NRI's here. We dont need Indian embassy to tell us to follow RBI guidelines. We are stuck as we cant follow RBI guidelines as we cant travel to exchange our hard earned money and cant give to others to take as well hence we asked Indian embassy to make a provision to Indians to exchange the amount we have here in Kuwait. This step is taken in UK for NRI's by Indian embassy there. Can our Ambassador help us by making the same provision for us here?..is that what we request.Indian Embassy should help us when we are in need.
