Kuwait eyes crackdown on unlicensed worship places

Wednesday, October 19, 2016

Kuwaiti authorities will take action against all unlicensed mosques and worship areas, citing security concerns, local media reported.

According to media report, the government had reviewed a recommendation submitted by the committee for public services regarding the proliferation of places of worship that do not have official approval.

The cabinet decided to task the Municipality of Kuwait City to coordinate with the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs and other agencies concerned to address the issue and find prompt solutions.

The interior ministry said there were grave security concerns regarding the illegal structures and called for an end to the situation, Kuwaiti daily Al Rai reported on Tuesday.

The License requirement is applicable to tens of building basement Churches, that are functioning illegally and to the utter inconvenience of the residents. For example, in Abbassiya, two huge such adjoining basements are working as 'Churches' and now almost all days, the traffic within that locality right from 6 am until late evening is impossible. The Church goers make it as their birthright to block the roads and stands at both sides of the roads like crows on coconuts and occupy the entire parking lots of the residents. Huge money is accummulating in a single room as donations and the priests are happy, no matter on inconveniences. Once, a pregnant lady had to be evacuated from a building nearby, physically lifting her to a car, as it was impossible for her husband to bring the car anywhere near her building. What is this? Such prayer areas must be shifted immediately.

@huzefa Apparently,it seems like @assad_muffi does not consider bohri muslims worship to be legal in Kuwait.

I was wondering if we need license for praying at home or park or a place where mosques are not to be found nearby??
