Move to make Health insurance mandatory for all visitors

Monday, October 3, 2016

The ministries of Health and Interior are studying the possibility of applying mandatory health insurance to several categories of expatriates, reports Al-Anba daily.

According to report, if introduced, the insurance will cover all kinds of visas (visit, business and tourism) including those to obtain a temporary residence for specific reasons.

The source pointed out this type of insurance is already applied in a number of Arab and foreign countries and will contribute to increasing the financial resources of the state.

Please allow our parents to visit us ASAP, those who are more than 60yrs age. Please also don't make the visit limited to 1month only. Hope Indian ambassador will take a note of it. because they need us in this age.

I think they have centralized system, If the person is on visit and any major treatment come out they should charge according to that treatment ( except small treatment ike fever)
This will restrict those who are miss using medical facility.

I am also totally agree with Ahmad's reply. Our sincere request to Indian Ambassador to have a dialogue with the concerned ministry to get our parents on visit or dependent visa as they need more of us during this age.

Insurance is never introduced to increase the financial resources of the state. It is to safeguard the health of the insured person. This is a very negative myopic outlook of the ministry. The objective of increasing the financial resources of the state can be done easily by increasing the visa cost.

It is a good move provided that the government allows visit visas for parents above the age of 60. One of the reasons floating around for denial of visit visa is that it is being "misused" for getting medical treatment. If health insurance is made mandatory for visit visa, this excuse is no longer valid. And with this move, all of us eagerly expect the government to lift the restrictions on visit visa for parents.

That's a great move, this should have been implemented long back rather than stopping aged people from visiting

Dear Ahmad,

There was no restrictions for visit visa previously, I believe that due to some numorous incidents of misuse of this law Kuwait government has abondened it.
