Residencies of cooks holding Driving Licenses will not be renewed

Friday, September 23, 2016

Residency permits of 100,000 domestic workers and cooks who hold driving licenses illegally, will not be able to renew their residency permits. Local news paper Al-Qabas daily reported quoting Assistant Undersecretary for Passports and Citizenship Affairs in the Interior Ministry Major General Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah.

According to report, Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah pointed out that these domestic workers and cooks contribute to traffic jams as it has been discovered that many of them are engaged in delivery work and drive their own cars.

These workers will not be able to renew their residency permits unless they hand over their driving licenses or change their line of work into one that allows them to hold driving licenses.

He also said that the sponsors of these workers will not be allowed to hire new workers if they do not comply with the directive.

NICE MOVE by the OFFICIALS. This will help in reducing the "unnecessary" TRAFFIC jam on the road. God Bless.

it would be easier if companies provide transport for non-travelling staff like managers, clerks, secretaries, service, technicians, sw developers, accountants & labourers. Anyone who does not have to travel door2door or visit customers onsite.

they dont have to buy vans or buses. just contract those services.

it would be helpful if most of the people working in a company live in the same area as the company.

this would reduce the traffic between towns.

mass transport is essential and the existing modes require several upgrades.

this is not the way to treat any driver .... for holding licenses my dearest parliament members ... please sought it right ways.... close down all mattam on road sides and change school timings or shift school in some decent place where there is a seperation of working place and school place so trafic in seconds will vanish in hours

This is not the way to curb traffic congestion on the roads, Pls find some other way out, as discrimination among human beings who are white collars or domestic servants or cooks have their legal rights to hold licenses of car driving and if u dont allow them this is really a matter of sadness.

Gross violation of human rights.
what a pity. Kuwait does not deserve any respect from any international organisations.
Driving must be a right for a human being if he can drive, irrespective of any nationality or any level.
The traffic congestion is because of the government's failure to foresee the future traffic problems and take proactive actions.
