Plan to increase traffic fine. May limit the number of vehicles an expatriate can own

Wednesday, August 24, 2016

Kuwait has plans to increase fines collected from drivers who commit serious violations such as failure to fasten the seat belt or using the phone while driving, local daily Kuwait Times reported citing Al Jarida Arabic news paper.

According to report, the proposal is yet to be sent to the National Assembly for debate.

The daily, quoting Major General Fahad Al-Shuwaie, also reported that there are no plans to increase fees for services that the traffic department provides.

He also said that there is a possibility that a decision might be made in the future to limit the number of vehicles an expatriate can own, as one of the solutions mulled for the traffic jams’ problem.

they can increase how much ever they can for non-evidence violence for expatriates, recently I got kd.10/-fine for not fastening seat belt, as I am very sure I never do this mistake because first I put seat belt then I move my car, even the time mentioned on the penalty 7am usually I be at home, they know we are helpless we cannot argue or do anything in this way they can increase their revenue...

Akil you are right, Blaming to other for your own mistake is the common thinking here. See now a days all Arabic Schools are off and most of the Kuwaitis are out of country, Traffic is very smooth & peaceful.

This rule will have no or less impact on traffic issues that Government is trying to solve. Any case, expats dont care, majority of expats cannot afford to own & maintain multiple cars, furthermore with increasing fuel prices many more would not want to, meanwhile Kuwaities / GCC can own as many cars as they like. In any case, traffic problem can be solved only by better road management, awesome public transport and proper city planning. until then ministers can blame expats for everything.

it seems expats are the problems of Kuwait traffic woes as Kuwaitis drive their cars as per the traffic books. it is the expats which do not follow the rules.
the history of Kuwait suggest blame it on expats is the major mental block amongst Kuwaitis.
I swear by Allah the day these Kuwaitis stop differentiating between Kuwaitis and non Kuwaitis, the problem of Kuwait shall be solved automatically. it the mental approach which is the major problem nothing else.
