Officers from the General Traffic Department (GTD) carried out traffic campaigns from July 10-16, 2016 in all governorates.
These campaigns led to the issuance of 37,191 citations for various traffic violations. During the campaigns, the officers impounded 1,338 vehicles and nine motorbikes as well as detained 42 people. They also referred 12 expatriates for deportation for driving without a license, while the security surveillance patrol (smart patrol) tracked down two stolen vehicles during the week.
