KUNA Tuesday, June 28, 2016

The Ministry of Electricity and Water announced on Tuesday that the electrical loads reached an unprecedented high of 12,900 megawatts. The ministry said in a statement that it's the first time in Kuwait's history that the loads reached that high. The highest ever was recorded last summer with 12,810 megawatts.

The ministry predicted that the electrical loads will keep on rising for the coming few days due to increasing high temperatures.

dear all;

everybody can contribute on this issue.maximum electricity is consumed by air-condition and heating. we must not keep the temperature of the a/c to be less than 21 degree Celsius. 21 degree is very comfortable temperature and strictly we should follow this. I saw in some office and some hospitals they keep the set point at 17 and 18 degree which is actually haram. Some people not care about it because they are not directly paying for it. but if we think globally we are taking some others rights. this is absolutely wastage of energy in a big volume.

let all be responsible for what we think and do.

4. Put curtains down when you use AC or heater.
5. switch off TV, Computer etc when you don't use for long time.
6. Use front loading automatic washing machines for saving water and electricity. Front loading washing machine cleans the cloth much better than top loading washing machine.

Energy saved is energy produced! Some people keep most of the switches (lights, fans, AC) in on position. At least they should try to switches of the unwanted light switches, fans, TV and music system. If they are going out for more than 1 hour they should switch of AC switch also. Just think about what we would have done if we were in our home in our mother land and what we would have done there for the control of energy consumption and cost cutting.

Requested all readers that electricity saved is electricity generated.

Hence, I suggest a few guidelines:
1. Whenever possible, switch off lights. If you have switched off one bulb, you have contributed your share to this world. Completely switch off the lights when you go out. switch on lights in toilets only when you enter toilet and switch off when you come out.
2. Increase the temperature of AC when you go out. You can bring down the temp after your return.
3. Use double layer curtains for all windows. This will reduce heat transfer and thus save electricity.
