Expats health fees to be increased soon

Thursday, June 2, 2016

The Ministry of Health (MoH) is expected to increase the fees collected for health services provided to expats by 15-20 percent and impose health insurance on visitors before the end of the year, local daily Kuwait Times reported citing Al Rai Arabic news paper.

According to daily, three hospitals will be ready by 2019 by a company to provide medical services for expatriates in the private sector. Once the company is formed, public health services provided by the ministry would only be restricted to citizens and expats working for the public sector.

The daily, quoting MoH Undersecretary Dr Khaled Al-Sahlawi reported that a study on the fees collected from expats for radiology, nuclear and lab tests compare to those collected by the private sector found a huge difference despite the ministry’s operational costs being much higher. The committee submitted the study results to Minister Ali Al-Obaidi and expected that the new fees would be in effect soon.

Sahlawi explained that a company was established according to the public-private-partnership (PPP) system in which citizens would own some shares to build three private hospitals and 15 medical centers for expatriates working for the private sector, whose numbers range between 1.75-2 million.

If any country needs expacts they will be treated equally. If not it means that the services of expats are not essential. I agree with Humanist, deport all who is seeking hospital help. The private health insurance is also big cheating on expats. I have health insurance from an insurance company. When I submitted a claim after hospital treatment in India, the claim is rejected telling some disease for which they won't refund when actual disease doctor identified and showing in report the disease entitled for refund as per their policy. Many expats wants to go are stuck due to delayed payment from ministries on getting the retiring benefits.

It is very clear that Kuwaitis don't want expats to settle down here in kuwait. All they want is that the expats should serve them as long as they want & then leave this country according to their will & wish. GOD SAVE & PROTECT HIS COUNTRY AND ALL THE EXPATS...AAMEEN!!!!!!!!!!

Comparing cost to private sector ! wow ! they should compare the service standards as well. Private sector does not blindly write panadol for every ailment.A better suggestion. Deport every expat who catches even a simple fever. This will solve crowding problem in every field and government would not have to spend money for tax paying expats !

Reminds of a joke. The US army outsourced most of its work - so much that they had trouble coordinating outsourcing... so what is the solution... outsource the solution to coordinate outsourcing.

Soon the economy will collapse here due to brainless economical policies, many of us starting noticing the banners "For Rent" out side the newly built flats. People are leaving which is slowly but continuously, In next five years it will turn into huge and the owners of the buildings will beg for low rent from Expats.

Very sad news. Expats are 26 lakhs in Kuwait. I dont know how many work for the public sector. Even then... just think, 10..15 lakh people will have to be treated in just THREE hospitals!!! It's scary.

Oh My God, this will affect the poor expats who needs the said above treatments. And Kuwait GOVT must review this plan and they should drop this plans. Already we are paying a huge insurance every year and still they wants to increase, but no any increase in salaries, God must hel us.

To increase any fee in any sector did not need to have study. why you should give money to the consultant to increase the fee? The study should be not to increase the fee! It should be for, how to increase the quality of service give to the people. I can say, any fools (only a expression) can recommend for increase in fee but to give a proper recommend only the good minded can give.
