Move to increase miminum salary for family visa to 450 KD

Sunday, May 22, 2016

Kuwait is planning to increase the minimum wage for expatriates to be eligible to issue dependent visas for their family members to 450 KD, local daily reported. The current minimum salary to be eligible to get family visa is 250 KD.

The study also calls for increasing the fines paid by expats facing absconding charges from KD 2 a day to KD 4, while increasing the maximum amount from KD 600 to KD 1,000, local reports says.

The suggestions also propose increasing visa fees paid to immigration authorities and limiting the ratio of every expatriate community in Kuwait to 20 percent compared to Kuwaitis’ population.

250 itself is the best salary for family status. Kuwait should identify the fact that if families are here in Kuwait, then the people how earns from Kuwait will spent the money here in the country itself. other wise when they lead a bachelor life, 80 to 85% of the amount from Kuwait will get transferred to other countries, which will affect the economy of the Kuwait in a negative way.

This is not a good decision...because it will affect their country's income..schools ,house rents all will be affected by dis stupid decision ...as 250kd is good for all of us....so pls dont take such stupid decisions that can harm ur own country...as ur country is running by all expatriats...

This was bound to happen. Logically it was not possible for a family to survive in KD 250 salary. KD 450 sounds more logical. Low living standards is creating SLUMS in Kuwait.

We find families with poor salary living in dire straits. The decision may be good considering living status but for new comers it is too high.

Majority of the expatriate s are earning very low income. More over all school going students are going back to their respective state. Rent is more high nd other such expenses

We can see the Indian Embassy Minimum Wages List which does help the Indians to get a very low salary only, while many get more in this nation of Kuwait.

Such low wages should be amended to help Indians to live with their family in the society, if it is to present while giving support from the Indian Government for the all the working individuals.

In 1994 minimum salary to bring family was 650 KD. The quality of living in Kuwait very high. Roads were literally free, everything was available & cheap. The moment it was changed to 250 standard of living came down drastically. It is a simple logic. Europe and US has a population to resource ratio very low. High standard of living. India / Pakistan / Bangladesh has a population to resource ratio very high. Low standard of living.

I hear this from last 5 years. Don't know when they implement . How can a person with 250 kd/- salary survives with family where as single bedroom flat rent is 250 kd. And they made 600kd for driving licence, where as we can get a old second hand car for 300-400 kd. Funny rules.
