As I sit alone and watch the skies,
I feel a pain, an unsaid goodbye.
This was not the way it was meant to be,
You were supposed to be here, right next to me.
The ground beneath my feet, keeps slipping away,
My life's falling apart, a bit more each day.
The sound of your laughter, keeps haunting my nights.
The flames of my soul have long lost their light.

The days pass by in the blink of an eye,
I'm chained by remorse, yearning to fly.
I gaze at two lovebirds, perched on a tree,
Lost in their world, so in bliss as can be.
The male with his wings, embraced his sweetheart,
And she holds him close, not a moment apart.
This act of pure love, so simple, so great,
Binds them for life, ordained by fate.
From beyond that horizon, your voice I hear,
Making me smile and wiping my tears.
I trance into a dream, a flashback from the past,
When I held you close, as you breathed your last.
I still feel the shock and the fear that did creep,
As you drifted off, to your eternal sleep.
The words you spoke last are etched in my mind,
Seared in my brain to forever rewind.
With your hand on my heart, you whispered in my ear,
"No matter what happens, I'll always be here".
I know I should fight this feeling of loss,
The road seems so bleak, devoid of cause.
But out of the darkness like a phoenix I'll rise,
And salvage my soul, more stronger, more wise.
There's a beauty in hope, a beauty divine,
To finish this race, to cross that line.
I'll live in your memory till the end of my days,
Coz I know you"ll watch over from the arms of God's grace.
Now the sun sets deep into the icy sea,
The birds soar high, their wings set free.
