ICS presents Shayer & Ghazal on 20th May 2016

Pioneer for quality entertainment & producer of regular hit shows, ICS proudly presents “Shayer Aur Ghazal” On Friday 20th May.

ICS serves this time, a unique concept of Poetry recitation and Ghazal singing by legends from Indian Cinema & Literature. Beside the social & welfare work done for a long period, team ICS is celebrating its10th year, presenting variety of programs to the community.

In April “Hala Baisakhi with MEET Bros” live concert claimed huge success & is still talk of the town. To give a poetic fragrance and an evening to promote our

literature, Padma Shri Tom Alter (veteran film, theater & TV actor), Deepti Naval (Film Fare award winner actress, writer, painter & poet) Munawwar Rana (Sahitya Academy Award top most Urdu poet), Raza Murad (Renowned Film & Television actor & orator), Aalok Srivastav (famous Urdu poet & media personality tv Aaj Tak / DD1) , senior writer & renowned poets Aeel Nomani, Mansoor Usmani & Saif Baber will present their best pieces. Shishir Parkhie & team (popular Ghazal Maestro) will add colors by singing their melodious ghazals.

DEEPTI NAVAL: The dusky doe-eyed diva of Bollywood, Deepti Naval is an actress and director, known for film NH 10 & Heartless (2015), Inkaar (2013), Bang Bang (2014) , Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011), Leela ( 2002), Guddu (1995) Yalgaar ( 1992) etc. Naval started her film career with “Ek Baar Phir” in 1980. She is known to be a sensitive actress & was a part of the art films and light films of the 80's. “Saath .Saath”, “Chashme Buddoor” , “Mirch Masala”, “Katha”, “Rang Birangi”, “Marhi Da Diva”, “Angoor” are her successful films from the era. Along with acting, Naval has tried her hands at painting, writing and photography. She has released two successful collections of poems ‘Lamha Lamha’ in Hindi and Black Wind which was released in 2004 by Oxford Bookstore. She completes her Bachelors in Fine Arts from Hunter College New York & began her career as a supporting actress for Jalianwala Bagh (1977) & followed it in Shyam Benrgal’s Junoon (1978). Naval also acted in the television show Mukti Bandhan on Colors, which ran in 2011. Her movie ‘Listen Amaya’ released in 2013 where she is seen pairing up opposite Farooque Sheikh after a long hiatus. Naval has directed ‘Do Paise Ki Dhoop, Chaar Aane Ki Baarish’ starring Manisha Koirala. The film was screened at Cannes Film Festival (2009).

In 2007, Naval was bestowed with the Tribute Honoree in Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles.

MUNAWWAR RANA: Munawwar Rana is top most poet & writer of Urdu & Hindi language. He Honored by Sahitya Academy award for Urdu literature.

Munnawar Rana published his poetry not only in Urdu but also in Hindi and Bengali. Rana is known to be a sensitive poet who uses Hindi and Awadhi words in the couplets. He avoids using flowery language and shuns chaste Urdu in his couplets, which is a reason that he is successful in poetic meets in non-Urdu areas also. Most of his couplets have Mother as the center point of his love, much different from other poets. He took Urdu shayari and ghazals to a new level where Urdu poetry was exhibited in a lot of different variety rather than just the medium of conversation between two lovers. Rana performs wonderful and live poetry on stage for special occasions and events. His popular books are Maa , Muhajir Nama, Ghar Akela Ho Gaya, Ghazal Gaon, Shahdaba, Pipal Chhaon, Mor Paon, Badan Sarai, Safed Jangli Kabootar, Sab Uske Liye etc. He received several awards like: Ameer Khusro Award, Mir Taqi Mir Award, Ghalib Award, Dr. Zakir Hussain Award, Maulana Abdul Razzaq Malihabadi Award (West Bengal Urdu Academy) , Humayun Kabir Award, Ustad Bismillah khan Award etc.

TOM ALTER: If at all there is a very famous Englishman in Bollywood, then he is the one and only Tom Alter. Theater, Television & Film actor Tom Alter is equally famous for his presentation of poetry in Urdu, Hindi & English. Especially he recites couplets & ghazal of Ghalib. Bahadur Shah Zafar & Zouq. Some of his most famous movie roles have been as Musa in Vidhu Vinod Chopra's acclaimed crime drama 'Parinda', Mahesh Bhatt's blockbuster romance 'Aashiqui', and Ketan Mehta's 'Sardar', in which Alter essayed the role of Lord Mountbatten. Alter has also accumulated a body of theatrical work, the most recent having been in the theatrical reproduction of William Dalrymple's 'City of Djinns' and the solo play 'Maulana', based on Maulana Azad for which he has received much critical acclaim. He has also received praise for his role in the art film 'Ocean of An Old Man', which has been screened at film festivals around the world. Among several international assignments was the opportunity to work with Peter O'Toole in the Hollywood film 'One Night With The King'.From film “Charas” to till today he is engaged in many fields. He has done remarkable ‘Shatranj Ke Khiladi” & as a British officer in Kranti. Many films are in his account like Bheja Fry, Alag, Veer Zara, Aeitbar, Asambhav, Dhund, Shaktimaan, Sone Pe Suhaga, Son of Flower, M Cream, Kevi Rite Jaish, etc. He has also played Indian characters in Indian television series, such as the long-running Junoon, in which he was the sadistic mob lord Keshav Kalsi. RAZA MURAD: A rare few of the veteran film stars who had earned fame as heroes or villains from 60s to 80s have now become television stars.

Raza Murad may have starred in over 400 Bollywood films, but his stardom hasn’t waned and he has now made a name even as a small-screen actor by appearing on popular serials. A baritone voice and a serious countenance had characterized Raza Murad as a villain in the yesteryears. One of his most memorable performances as a character actor has been the role of a despondent poet in the 1973 hit film "Namak Haraam" alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna. He acted in Bajirao Mastani (Nizam of Deccan), Rudhramadevi (King of Devgiri) Mudrank: Ungli, Riyasat, Dil Bhi Khaali Jeb Bhi Khaali, Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela, Roti Kapada Aur Makaan, Trishna, Chakkar Pe Chakkar, Daku Aur Mahatma, Laila Majnu, Kaalia, Khud-Daar, Ghulami, Tera Karam Mera Dharam, Loha, Kaal Chakra, Zalzala etc. He has had major roles in some of the most successful films of Bollywood like Raj Kapoor's Prem Rog, Heena and Ram Teri Ganga Maili and in other big hits like Ram Lakhan, Tridev, Pyar Ka Mandir, Aankhen,

Mohra and Gupt: The Hidden Truth. He appeared in Ek Hi Raasta alongside Ajay Devgan as a terrorist who attempts to rule India.

In his long career, Raza Murad has acted in Punjabi and Telugu films as well. He had appeared in the film Jatt Punjabi. In February 2011, he was awarded with the lifetime achievement award for his contribution towards Punjabi Cinema at the PTC Punjab film awards. In the Telugu film Indra (2002), he has co-starred with the megastar Chiranjeevi.



SHISHIR PARKHIE; Orange City Nagpur’s born Shishir Parkhie is a Playback, Ghazal, Bhajan, singer & music composer. He has soft velvet & soulful voice which is symbol of his success in Ghazal singing. Shishir has been nominated twice in the best Ghazal album category for the prestigious Global Indian Music Academy Awards for his self-composed solo Ghazal albums Roomaniyat at in 2012 & Siyahat in the year 2015. He is a graded artiste of All India Radio. He has performed extensively at various places all over India & his overseas Ghazal performances at Dimona, Ashdod, Ramla, Nairobi, Kenya, Dubai, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia were highly appreciated. Beside his live performances, he is regular performer in television Ghazal shows as well for music companies like T Series, Venus, HMV, Times Music etc. His popular Ghazal Albums are -Ahteraam, Once More Ghazal, Siyahat, Roomaniiyat, and Khulus & Aashnaai. His devotional & spiritual albums are equally popular. No doubt Shishir is a future of Ghazal era…enjoys his voice on 20th May.
