Things to Do and Explore this Summer

It’s that amazing time of the year again where studies are stopped and fun is in. Why yes! It is summer. Isn’t it our favourite holiday where we take a break and indulge in so many various activities? Well, I am pretty sure most of us are pretty stoked and already have a ‘To Do List’ for this summer. Now, many of us might be travelling to our hometown or foreign countries, but for the few of us who are staying back in Kuwait, we don’t have to throw our weight around and exclaim “Ah! I have nothing to do!” Well, you have a whole lot of stuff to do and explore.

You could enroll yourself in various sports or if you are interested in learning a new language, you could join a summer club. Whenever somebody says the word summer, the first word that comes to mind is: Beaches. That’s right, what can be better than the palm trees and ocean breeze! A little break away from the chaotic world will make you feel like paradise. The Egaila beach and Green Island is a very suitable place to visit as it gives a great exposure to the outside world. You could even go for a fun barbecue, enjoying the rustic style of living or even rent a bicycle to explore around the island , but do remember to carry a lot of water and glucose drinks to prevent dehydration.

Finding a new hobby is something that is the most exciting. Be it stamp collecting to sea shell picking or reading a collection of books. Why not spending a whole day with your family and friends in the lush gardens of Ahmadi and Salmiya? Going on a picnic and playing outdoor sports is the best way to rejuvenate yourself. This will not only make you feel extremely happy but will also be a very suitable time to get closer to the ones you love. Another activity which will make you feel so exhilarated is cockle picking at Doha beach. The joy and pride of finding your own cockles during low tide is unbound. Those same cockles could also be used to make mouthwatering dishes at home. The thing that amazed me the most was that we were actually walking on a sea bed!

Remember that mathematics sum you never understood or being upset because you never had the neatest handwriting? Now is the time to build on your weakness and make them your strengths.
Build the rush of adrenaline in you and do things you have never done before like buggy riding or probably going to the chalet with your family and friends. Travel back in time not virtually but physically by visiting Souq Al-Mubarakiya- one of the oldest souqs in Kuwait. You could see how salesmen sell various types of aromatic coffee and spices, pickled vegetables, traditional pottery ware and so much more. It’s a real treat for the eye to visit this amazing place which has a historic background.

Cooking is real fun too! Why not try some easy recipes and assist your mom in her daily chores. Painting, arts and crafts scream summer and it is incredibly fun. Last year I explored every one of these places while completing every single activity which I have mentioned here and I can guarantee you it is a completely fun filled package you would not want to miss. This year I plan to visit and explore even more of these attractions which are located right in the heart of Kuwait. Some of my dream destinations are: the sadu weaving house, the Kuwait museum of science, the house of mirrors, the Doha village and the Dhow harbor. I am quite elated to begin my holidays with a well-organized itinerary and big plans.

So here’s a truck load of things you can do and I hope you have an ecstatic summer, don’t forget to always stay cool, beat the heat and have fun.
