MP wants to impose tax on money transfers of expatriates

Sunday, May 1, 2016

MP Faisal Mohamed Al-Kandari has proposed imposing tax on money transfers of expatriates, reports Arab Times daily. Al-Kandari pointed out the State of Kuwait hosts about three million expatriates who transfer money to their countries, which reached KD 19 billion in the last five years and this amount is equivalent to the national budget of Kuwait for one year.

The daily quoting him as saying, reported that imposing tax on such transfers will generate new income for the government, which will ensure better services for the expatriates and citizens. He disclosed the income from this tax will not be less than KD 20 million per year, taking into consideration the minimum amount transferred to other countries is about KD 2 billion per year.

Another option is to impose tax on the amount spend by the citizens.
This will generate new income for the government, which will ensure better services for the expatriates and citizens.
This tax will not be less then KD 200 million per year :-)

Suggest some better ideas to Govt of Kuwait like , opening up the country, Tourism, and freedom to do business instead of asking for taxation for expriates on remittances. If you have done what i have said above the country would have not faced the problems which they are facing now for the oil prices. It is never too late now also you can open up your country for foreigners to invest, if you dont than i am sure you will have to face severe consequences.

What an excellent way to generate income in the country!!!
And feed those who roam in the world's largest malls whole day drinking and eating costliest food and wearing branded clothes and we expats eating quboos with daal and sambaar with our own hard earned money.

ALL INDIANS ARE JUGAADU TYPE!!
Only in the very extreeeme case, we will leave from here. These imposing of taxes, hiking electricity, water, fuel, food, clothing, accomodating charges are very insignificant things for us. The absolute corruption, hopeless political system, goondaism, strenuous communal intolerance, extreme inflation back in India prevents us to return back to over great country. MP Sir, I, the earner of KD 230 salary, with open arms embrace your decision to inflict the taxes and also advocate the innovative researches to find more ways to classify us and kick us out.

Why doesnt the kuwait Government try to find alternate sources of income, instead of trying to grind money from expats. Government officials in India are much better,at least they try to introduce new ideas and then turn it into scams :P. Here no one has any ideas for development.
Some ideas that I have are : 1) Setup up Tourism like Dubai, but infrastructure also should be top notch.
2) Try to setup up small scale industries.

Shame on this Country. Khud se toh kuch hota nahin hain and brainless as usual. Think of ways of boosting your economy and better ways to generate revenue. One track mind can only think of the expats.
We leave this country and you are in a bigger mess! Try it!

If the above mentioned MP wants to impose tax on the money transfers of the expats, he should first propose the government to impose income tax for the salaries earned by the citizens in order to contribute to the welfare of the country, becoz the citizens are the ones most benefited by the government services & not the expat.
