Proposel to increase the traffic fines by 50 or 100 percent

Sunday, May 1, 2016

Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs at the Ministry of Interior Major-General Abdullah Al-Muhanna said the ministry is proposing to increase the value of traffic fines by 50 or 100 percent. He strongly denied reports about intentions to increase traffic fines by 500 percent.

He added, the proposal needs the stamp of the National Assembly. Al-Muhanna added he is in favor of increasing the value of fines because the decision will have a positive impact and enforce compliance with the law. He pointed out the speeding violations have decreased by 62 percent, recklessness and making stunts on the road by 20 percent, skipping the red traffic light by 25 percent and driving against the flow of traffic by 55 percent.

So kind of you Mr Assistant Undersecretary for not increasing by 500%.
50-100% is very nominal & all expats will pay it happily.
