Kuwait University to freeze job of 56 expatriates

Tuesday, March 22, 2016

Kuwait University Secretariat General has asked its administration to list 56 non Kuwaiti employees at the university in order to freeze their jobs in the next fiscal year 2016/2017, local daily Kuwait Times reported.

This means that the expats on the list will lose their jobs or their contracts will not be renewed and the positions will not be reopened again for expatriates but reserved only for Kuwaiti nationals.

The secretariat said in an official letter that the decision follows from the Civil Service Commission (13/2007), in regards to the Kuwaitization of government jobs, and requirements to reduce non-Kuwaiti staff by 15 percent each year.

Please apply same rule to Ministry of health where some very aged expat people are sitting and drawing humongous salaries and benefits. Old means outdated practices of medicine not better.....

I think the alarm bells are ringing/already rung for us Indians to leave this country. At the end of day, this country is for Kuwaitis. KU should also terminate services of 60 & above age group in order to provide opportunities for young Kuwaitis. Let Kuwaitis run the institutions in the country. May God help Kuwait.

But I don't think that this move will solve kuwaitis' unemployment because many kuwaitees had more than 2 children. Unless they control the number of children, they are going to face huge problems like in India.
