NSS Kuwait conducted this year’s Onam celebration at Carmel School Khaitan on 2nd October 2015 in the presence of a grand audience. NSS Kuwait “Thiruvonappulari 2015” was unique for its grandeur. H.E. Sunil Jain Indian Ambassador to Kuwait was the chief guest of the celebration attended by more than 2000 people including NSS Kuwait members, dignitaries and well-wishers.

The inauguration function started at 10.30 am after the traditional welcome to Mahabali with Thalappoli, Pulikali and Chendamelam. Indian Ambassador HE Sunil Jain inaugurated the function by lighting the lamp. NSS General Secretary Sri. S. Vijayakumar welcomed the honourable guests. Mr. Baiju Pillai NSS President gave the presidential speech.

HE Sunil Jain in his inaugural speech congratulated NSS for the welfare activities being conducted in India and in Kuwait, especially the Cancer Care Scheme, Balika Help Fund and NSS Jyothi. He also urged that NSS should continue such activities for the welfare of all Indian Community.

Vanitha Samajam convener Mrs. Deepa Pillai addressed the audience and wished happy Onam to all. Mr. Sajith C. Nair, charity convener talked elaborately on the welfare activities of NSS Kuwait and requested all members to join the mission. After felicitation speeches by the other distinguished guests, NSS Treasurer Mr. Guna Prasad extended the vote of thanks.

The cultural programs of Kerala Padayani, Thayampaka, Thiruvathira, Vallappattu and the dance drama “Navadurga” by Upasana dance School were the highlights of NSS Onam day celebration.

The dance programs presented by different dance schools and dance teachers combined with lively music by talented singers of Kuwait won the hearts of all. The delicious Onam feast prepared under the supervision of Sri. Vallivattath Narayanan Namboothiri was enjoyed by all. NSS authorities expressed their gratitude at the vast participation of its members and well-wishers on the occasion.
