Be Vigilant to save secular values, says Pinarayi Vijayan

CPI (M) Polit Bureau Member Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan urged the community to be vigilant to save the secular values in India. He was addressing a huge audience, “Anti Communal Conference” organized by KALA-Kuwait here. The community has lots of concern about India in recent developments on aggressive liberalization policies crippling the society. Suicide in the agricultural profession is alarmingly gone up by 26 percent. Seventy Thousand Crores worth of public sector equities are going to be disinvested and privatization in railways will reverse the privileges of lakhs of workers gained through historic struggles. With 800 million still under poverty line, the government still appeases the wealthy community, with 1% of the total population, he stated.

In fishing sector, bigwigs are ruling openly pushing the traditional fishermen in distress. He also observed that in the ecological imbalance due to aggressive trolling will slowly eradicate the fishermen community. The provision funds for social security worth more than one lakh crores is removed and the level of corruption is alarmingly gone up even more than that of UPA Government. BJP promised 15 lakhs to all in the election manifesto, by cracking the black money investment outside India. The Modi Government has hardly taken any steps in this direction. Pinarayi Vijayan also observed that in foreign direct investments in retail sector also, NDA government follows the policies of UPA. The price hike for essential commodities is unbearable for the poor section with the lack of public distribution system.

RSS, formed during the peak independence struggle has totally different views on the rich cultural values of Hinduism and pushing the integrity of India into lethargies. They describe minorities as traitors and want to eradicate them from India, including the left parties who raise challenges. RSS openly want to implement the policies of Hitler. He also confirmed that left is not against belief and trust that believers are not fascists. In Kerala, Congress indirectly promotes RSS activities aiming to destabilize the lefts. From the era of renaissance, Keralite proved their integrity with the popular secular views put forward by Sree Narayana Guru “One Cast, One religion and One God”. Pinarayi pointed out that the current leadership of SNDP wants to divulge from this view, but the majority in the community will never accept this. BJB views that social inequality is a natural phenomenon and wants to discard the current reservation policy, whereas CPI (M) opposes. He said that CPI (M) vouch for the continuation of the reservation policy and to include economically weaker sections of the forward communities. He also urged SNDP leaderships to remember that BJP even opposed the Mandal Commission proposals for the benefit of backward class, during the VP Singh government. In brief, all these moves to establish that initiatives by SNDP to have tie-up with BJP camps will result ultimately in the abuse of verses put forward by great leader of renaissance Sreenarayana Guru.

On the other hand, Congress aims for the continuation of their terms helping BJP to open their account in Kerala, with a mutual understanding. This will be rejected by the secular community of Kerala and LDF will continue with the secular stand, as a role model for entire India. He concluded his speech urging all sections of the secular society to unite and defeat these impulsive actions spoiling the harmonious environment of Kerala. Further he declared that as always, LDF will continue to be in the forefront defeating any fascist moves in Kerala.

Manoj Udayapuram, Satar Kunnil, John Mathew, Ajith Kumar and Subha Shine representing different sections of the expatriate community in Kuwait, addressed the audience sharing their concerns, reiterating their integrity all the moves to resist any attack on secularism.

KALA president T.V.Hikmath presided over the function while Gen Secretary Saji Thomas Mathew welcomed and Treasurer Anil Kukkiri rendered vote of thanks.
