The SCCT finals was played on Sulaibiya Cricket grounds between Al Bader Shipping the defending champions and Dana Kuwait Shipping who were playing in the finals for only the second time.
The coin was tossed up for the final time in this year’s SCCT and it favored Dana Kuwait Shipping. The obvious choice was to bat first and that is exactly what DKS did.
The conditions were good to bat though the weather was on the hotter side. The first couple of overs were also taken for some runs by the opening pair of Mohammad Awaz and Stanley. The going appeared to be good for DKS with Stanley even sending one over the boundary line at long on to score a maximum. Just when the batters were thought to be settling down there was a fall of wicket by the way of a splendid catch taken at the short extra cover region by Sajid Sibhai of Al Bader which ended the innings of Stanley who looked so good at the crease until then. Soon after which the batsman that followed did not stick around for long and the team lost momentum in scoring. In a bid to take advantage of the number of overs left team DKS lost further more wickets until the tail enders came to take charge who put up some resistance and also scored at the same time. Thus the innings of DKS came to an end with the score board reading 90 for the loss of 10 wickets in 19.5 overs. Note worthy scores were of Mohammad Awaz (14), Stanley (14), Romeio (11), Saneesh (18) and Hussain unbeaten on 4.
Al Bader as usual sent out their best opener in Ali Aftab along with Asif Sibhai and started the chase in a very positive manner. The first breakthrough for DKS came by the way of Asif’s wicket with the score reading at 9 for Al Bader. Ali Aftab was though relentless with his scoring and kept scoring at will. The skipper Mahmood Ismail did not last long at the crease and was soon followed by Ali Zaheer who was surprised by the bounce of a slow good length delivery bowled by Sanish and as result scooped up a simple catch to Dean Landers in the short cover region. The batsman who later followed in Ismail Banwa and Sajid Sibhai made sure that there is no further loss of wickets and with opener Ali Aftab (36) walking back to the dugout towards the end did make sure that the team cross over the line with plenty to spare. The match came to an end with Ismail Banwa (17*) scoring a maximum to surpass the target in 11.3 overs. The batsman at the other end was Sajid Sibhai (13*) who ably supported the cause of the team. The match officials opted for Ali Aftab to be awarded with the man of the match award for his contribution with the bat.
The match was soon followed by an award ceremony which had the honor of having diplomats from the Embassy of Nepal, H. E. Yagya Bahadur Hamal, Embassy of South Africa, H. E. M. P. Bona, Charge d’ Affairs, Md. Ahmad Shah Arsalaie from the Embassy of Afghanistan, Shri. A. K. Srivastava , Second Secretary for Cultural Affairs from the Indian Embassy.
Among the dignitaries present for the occasion the Director General of Kuwait Cricket Mr. Asad Baig, Mr. Iqbal Vanoo Director Domestic Cricket KC, Mr. Mehboob Khan Director Women Cricket KC, Mr. Murali Kutticode, Director Junior and Corporate Cricket, KC. the Group General Manager of Al Bader Group Mr. Abdulrahman Al Ameen , The Chief of Accounts and Admin of Al Rashed International Shipping Mr. Pradeep Menon were present to do the honors.
The best batsman award went to Diju Xavier of Al Rashed International Shipping for scoring a total of 397 runs throughout the tournament. The best bowler of the tournament named is Wasim Shaikh of Al Bader for bagging 20 wickets in all.
The match that preceded the finals was played between Al Rashed Shipping and Sharaf Shipping which resulted in Sharaf winning the match and thus won the third spot of SCCT 2015. The man of the match declared is Roshan Fernandes of Sharaf Shipping.
The award ceremony concluded with a grand dinner hosted for the all the guest present at the venue to witness the finals and the award ceremony.
