Maharashtra Day Celebrated at Indian Embassy Auditorium

Maharashtra Mandal Kuwait (MMK), a socio-cultural non-profit organization, organizes every year various cultural programs to provide platform for its members and nurture their cultural talents. MMK organized "Maharashtra Day celebrations" on Friday 1stMay 2015 in the Indian Embassy Kuwait auditorium. This day has special significance in its annual program calendar. Maharashtra State was formed on 1st May 1960. Maharashtra Day is celebrated to mark the formation of what is undisputedly one of the most important states of India.

The Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Rakesh Joshi, General Manager, Al Mulla Exchange Co, the Guest of honor Mr. Shiv Sagar Head of Chancery and Second Secretary Indian Embassy Kuwait and Mr. John Simon, Group Manager Marketing AMX. The event commenced by the traditional “Deep Prajwalan” – lighting of the traditional Indian lamp by the various dignitaries followed by the President of MMK Mr. Dileep Sawant’s address to the members. The event included release of MMK Souvenir 2015 which is published every year with the purpose of giving platform for literary talents amongst MMK members and to garner a support-base in Kuwait.

The highlight of the event was a unique musical Programme “Bharav Te Bhairavi” sponsored mainly by M/s Al Mulla Exchange Co (AMX). This is the 7th Programme sponsored by AMX and MMK wishes to thank the main sponsors M/s AMX and the other sponsors for this long term relationship and support.

Music is commonly referred as “Sangeet”, in spiritual terms. It is considered as one of the most profound methods for exploring the mind. Sangeet transcends beyond the mundane levels of existence. To joy, happiness, bliss and divine meditative state and is a language without words. “Bhairav Te Bhairavi” was an attempt to paraphrase this feeling in words and decipher the experience.It’s an exposition of classical Indian musical tradition based on the eternal cyclical clock of day and night. It commenced with raga Bhairav, a morning raga, and concluded with Bhairavi, sung at the dawn. Raga, Todi, Sarang, Marwa, Bhimpalas, Yaman, Bageshree were a few of the “Ragas” which formed the backbone of this musical endeavor. The programme encompassed a wide range of musical forms like Classical Bandish, Tappa to semi classical and light compositions like Bhajan, Gazal, Folk, classical based film music in addition to Natyageet and Bhavgeet.

The key performers were Pandit Vijay Koparkar an eminent classical vocalist, Sayali Panse a versatile singer, Dattaprasad Ranade who specializes in Ghazals, Ashish Mujumdar, a music composer, Prasad Joshi who played ”Tabla”, Rajendra Bhave who played Violin, Ninad Solapurkar who played the keyboard and Amit Vaze who compered the entire musical show. The musical programme was widely appreciated and drew a tremendous response from the audience.
