Friday 27th was the week where BEC with MONEYGRAM – Emerging Teams Cup 2015 entered into its knock-out stages. It was the day where results didn’t turn out to be as expected. 1st Quarter-Finals was Played between Group D Toppers – FRIENDS KUWAIT Vs. Group A 2nd Place – GOAN BOYS, both the teams having quite a reputation in Tennis Cricket for their performances. The TOSS was won by FRIENDS KUWAIT, Capt. Amit Furtado decided to field. This was a pressure game for Goan Boys as FRIENDS KUWAIT were clear favorites to go through to the Semi-Finals. Goan Boys opening pair up was soon under pressure after they lost their Ace batsmen Babloo (Sandeep) to the likes of Javed (Friends Kuwait). Goan Boys held their nerve and maintained their steady progress with the score. Sunil Nevgi who opened the innings for Goan Boys stayed till the end to help Goan Boys put up a target of 86 runs in 10 Overs. Friends Kuwait being content with their performance with the ball and restricting Goan Boys to 86 went out to bat with their opening pair Umar Khan & Rameez Shaikh . Goan Boys bowler “Sanjay” who was also named Man of the Match quickly took 2 wickets dismantling Friends Kuwait early in the innings both the batsmen fell cheaply to Sanjay’s bowling. Goan Boys continued their superb performance with the ball and some amazing fielding saw the Goan Boys through to the SEMI FINALS.
2nd Quarter-Finals was played between Group A Toppers – Farhan Cricket Club(FCC) Vs Sahara Manjrone. FCC having won the toss elected to field and put team sahara to bat . Opening pair for Sahara didn’t stick too long on the crease but gave their team a decent start and then batting performance continuing with the likes of Sajjad and Imran from Sahara . FCC looked a bit sloppy with their fielding and bowling and were able to restrict Sahara to a total of 115 runs in 10 Overs. FCC knowing having a huge total to chase sent out their ACE opening pair Salman and Bilal , Sahara maintained their line and length in bowling putting the FCC’s opening pair under pressure which led to their dismissal being bowled out respectively by IJAZ and SHABIB from Sahara . The saga continued as FCC were unable to chase the target of 116 run and collapsed at 74 runs in 10 Overs. Man of the Match declared was IMRAN MULLA for Sahara Manjrone.
3rd of April 2015 is scheduled for some more action as we will witness 2 Quarter Finals and 1 Semis .
Matches played will be DFC-XTREME Vs. CHALLENGERS & FRIDAY COURT CC Vs. AL-NIDA UNITED and then to end the day with a SEMI FINAL between SAHARA MANJRONE Vs. Winners of FRIDAY COURT CC and AL-NIDA UNITED.
