BSK Family Picnic and Cricket Tournament held

Billava Sangha Kuwait picnic was held on Friday, 20th March 2015 with Billavas getting together in large numbers. The pleasant weather added to the grandeur of the event and gave an extra boost to the enthusiasm of the members who participated in the games.

The opening ceremony started off with a humble prayer rendered by Sudha Sandesh and Rashmi Mithun. The function was inaugurated by the President, Mr. Chitrek Bangera with a unique concept of mixing honey with milk signifying the traditional unity of a joint family. It was shown that as GOD likes the combination of honey and milk likewise he likes people living harmoniously with each other. It was followed with the ribbon cutting by the Sports Secretary, Mr. Krishna Poojary and the President did the traditional breaking of the coconut and declared the picnic open.

The character puppets made a grand entry into the Family picnic to amuse all the children in ground. They danced to the tunes of Hindi music as kids queued up to take a snap shot with them.

The tiny tots enjoyed their game of passing the ball and ball in basket game, while the older children played clipping of shirts and musical chair. Yet elder children race with lemon and spoon and one legged race. The ladies played lagori while the men race with the sack. Head twisting game, Shot put and Breaking the pot were played by everyone in the crowd. The couples sweated out in the couples relay. The crowd also tried their luck in the game of Housie Housie.

The day also witnessed the team game of Volleyball having 4 teams of Billava Brothers, Riggae Rockers, Karkala Friends, and Abbasiya Friends while it was won by the Billava Brothers and Reggae Rockers took the runners up trophy. Kabbadi was played in complete harmony and spirit by Billava Brothers, Reggae Rockers and Abbasiya Friends, Winners were Billava Brothers while Reggae Rockers took Runners up trophy. Throw ball match with 2 teams of ladies was also played with great enthusiasm. It was a real treat to watch the traditional coconut breaking game throughout the day.

The event was gracefully hosted by Mithun Vishwanath, Jyothi Sudhir and Mahesh Poojary while the DJ Roshan Rodrigues gave us peppy numbers that kept the audience delighted, while the photography was beautifully captured by Mr. Emileo Vilchez. Mr. Stephen Fernandes from Sonstep Typing Center generously sponsored the water for the entire day of the picnic whereas the transportation was sponsored by Mr. Gokuldas Bhat of Sagar Travels. Lunch was served by Mughal Tandoori Restaurant and they also sponsored the raffle coupon printing.

Billava Sangha Kuwait also conducted a Cricket tournament on Friday, 13 March 2015 at the Abbasiya grounds, under the leadership of Sports secretary Mr. Krishna Poojary in which 5 teams participated.

3. Reggae Friends

4. Billava Brothers Cricketers

5. Kudla Champs

The winners of the tournament were Abbasiya Billava Cricketers, while Baidashree team took the runners up trophy giving the winners a tough fight.

Yet another memorable event was concluded on a very happy note with prize distributions, vote of thanks by the General Secretary Vijay Kavoor and the raffle draw winner announcements.
