Traffic Department will withdraw driving licenses of unqualified expats

Monday, March 2, 2015

The General Traffic Department will withdraw driving licenses which were issued to expatriates after the ministerial decision because they do not reportedly meet the conditions stipulated in the decision, reports Al- Shahed daily quoting reliable ministry sources. According to the same sources a large number of expatriates were issued driving licences although they do not meet the required conditions and one of them is the profession.

The Assistant Undersecretary for Traffic Affairs Major-General Abdullah Al-Muhanna has asked for statistics of all licenses which were issued for professions other than those mentioned in the ministerial decision after it was discovered a large number of expatriates were given licences although they were not eligible.

The sources added a decision has been issued by Major-General Al- Muhanna to withdraw those licenses and to open an investigation to find out how these ‘unqualified’ people got the licences. A technical committee has been formed to follow up this issue and the administrative irregularities that have been committed.
