The Indian Community School Kuwait held a special felicitation ceremony for its outstanding sportspersons of the academic year 2014-15 on 16th February, 2015. The winners, individual champions and record holders of the various track and field events and the runners-up in various CBSE Kuwait Cluster sporting events were honoured with certificates and trophies. Noteworthy here is that athletes of ICSK brought glory to the school by clinching the CBSE Kuwait Cluster Athletics Championship for a record 13th time in a row. The Under-14 Boys Chess team of the school also won accolades at the ceremony for their victory in the CBSE Kuwait Cluster Boys Chess tournament and for participating in the Nationals event held in India. The U-14 girls’ basketball team of ICSK was congratulated for winning a tournament recently conducted by the Indian English Academy School. The Physical Education teachers were appreciated for their contribution in grooming the sportspersons of the ICSK. Honorary Secretary to the Board of trustees Mr. Vijay Karayil, Honorary Board member and head of Sports Committee Mr. Binoy Thomas, PAC member ICSK Junior and member of the sports committee Mr. Biju P Abraham, Principal ICSK Khaitan and sports coordinator Mr. K G Shirsath and Principal in-charge ICSK Junior Mrs. Sherly Dennis graced the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Vijay Karayil appreciated the dynamism of the Head of the sports committee of the Board of trustees Mr. Binoy Thomas, the hard work of Mr. K G Shirsath, the dedication of the physical education department, the efforts of the students and the support of parents. He congratulated the students and the PE teachers for 13th consecutive championship and hoped that this success would continue in future. Speaking on the occasion, the sports coordinator Mr. K G Shirsath congratulated the students for being privileged ones who have sporting ability. Head of the sports committee of the Board of trustees Mr. Binoy Thomas also congratulated the physical education teachers and the talented sportspersons of the ICSK for the pride and glory brought to the school. Mr. Binoy concluded the ceremony by giving advice to the students through a quote “While most are dreaming for success, others wake up and achieve it”.
