The Burj Khalifa's owner says the observation deck of the world's tallest tower has been unexpectedly shut down little more than a month after it opened.
The Dubai skyscraper's owner Emaar Properties blamed the closure on "unexpected high traffic," but then added in a brief statement to The Associated Press Monday that "technical issues with the power supply" were being addressed.
Advance bookings have meant tourists looking to visit the Burj since the deck opened January 5 have struggled to find tickets. Ticket holders affected by the shutdown are being offered the chance to rebook or receive refunds.
Emaar did not say when the observation deck would reopen. Work is still ongoing on many of the building's other floors.
