Microsoft Kuwait committed to promoting technology in education at Edutech Conference and Exhibition 2014

As a long-term partner to the Ministry of Education, Microsoft Kuwait recently participated in the annual Kuwait Edutech Conference and Exhibition 2014 as a Diamond sponsor and Educational partner for the fifth consecutive year. In line with its commitment to broaden digital inclusion and promote technology in education, Microsoft Kuwait along with seven partners – ZAK Solutions , ITWORX, NetSupport, LanguageNut, SmartTech, HP, and DELL – showcased the latest education solutions and technology geared towards assisting educational development in the classroom through digital literacy at the biggest event dedicated to Kuwait’s education sector.

Charles Nahas, Microsoft Kuwait General Manager, said “At Microsoft, we are deeply committed to supporting the vision of the Kuwaiti government and Ministry of Education and are proud to work alongside them to develop the education sector in the country. Along with our partners, we aim to provide every child and educator in the State of Kuwait with a matchless education experience, utilizing technology as the main enabler to achieve this.”

“At Microsoft, we focus on creating opportunities for youth and enabling educators to play a vital role in ensuring that digital natives become digital citizens. Young people must be given access to a solid foundation of skills that they can use as a springboard to careers. For this, we are providing students with Office 365 to have access to the latest version of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote for organization and note-taking, and much more. This can be installed on up to five compatible PCs and Macs, plus five tablets including iPads. It can be used with OneDrive for automatic device syncing and to gain valuable skills on the world’s most popular productivity software. The MS Office subscription will last for as long as students are enrolled in school”, he added.

Students can also make use of Office Online, which is a free, online version of Office that let them create, edit, and share documents with classmates, even if they don’t have Office. They can also save to OneDrive and work together in real time with full file fidelity, or save locally and work offline with Office 365. All they require is a Microsoft account, which can be created from their current school or university email address.

Microsoft takes a holistic and long-term approach to supporting education and is working closely with governments, educators, parents, students and NGOs in Kuwait to open up access to technology that can improve the quality of teaching as well as the learning experience for students of all ages.
