Expats dominate Capital Governorate

Statistics compiled by the Interior Ministry during the first half of 2014 shows a rise in the percentage of expats compared with citizens in the Asima (Capital) governorate where 534,964 individuals live - 234,277 Kuwaitis and 300,687 non-Kuwaitis, Kuwait Times daily reported citing Al Rai Arabic news paper.

The stats showed that the number of expatriates surpasses the number of Kuwaitis in many residential areas of the capital such as Dasman, Sharq, Bneid Al-Gar, Mirqab, Daiya, Qibla, Sulaibkhat, industrial Shuwaikh, Shuwaikh health zone and Mubarakiya.

The close numbers of citizens and expatriates living in many areas is notable - including Dhahiyat Abdullah Al-Salem where the number of Kuwaitis is 10,987 and non-Kuwaitis 10,720, in addition to Dasma where 10,827 Kuwaitis live compared to 9,273 non- Kuwaitis. The numbers are also competitive in Shamiya where 9,271 Kuwaitis and 8,465 non-Kuwaitis live, as well as Khaldiya and Kaifan where the difference is no more than 2,000 in favor of Kuwaitis.
