Technology leaders share latest insights and trends at the 2nd E-Government Forum in Kuwait

For the second year in a row, Microsoft Kuwait was a key participant at the E-Government Forum, held under the patronage of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

During the Forum, senior executives from Microsoft and Diyar United Company, a Microsoft partner, showcased the benefits of technology and how it can help enhance processes and performance within the government sector. Particularly within the framework of Kuwait’s eGovernment vision, this would ultimately lead to improved governance practices.

Microsoft’s presence at the forum covered topics such as ‘Solutions for Dynamic Governments’, which featured the technology solutions for better and more efficient service delivery, and ‘Journey to the Cloud’, which introduced Microsoft’s offerings in the private and hybrid cloud areas, as well as Azure. citizen-centric approach that puts people first

Diyar’s session focused on ‘eGovernment in the Cloud Era’, and how the cloud can create unmatched computing resources for government agencies and ministries, thereby broadening their scope with ease.

Bashar Atout, CEO Diyar United Company said: “Along with Microsoft, we are deeply committed to working with governments to use the power of IT to deliver technology, services and programs that provide anytime, anywhere services for all. This will help empower the government officials for quicker decision-making process, make information more easily available and in turn offer more value-added services to citizens. Today, people are increasingly becoming more tech-savvy, especially with the use of Internet, Facebook and social networking, and this creates a perfect climate for government to adopt relevant technology solutions.”

Microsoft has constantly invested and contributed towards the ongoing development of the education, healthcare and entrepreneurial sectors within Kuwait, and has also engaged with various government agencies within the State of Kuwait. Through special training programs and workshops, Microsoft remains committed to the development of a knowledge-based economy in Kuwait, by equipping nationals with the ICT based skills they need to compete in today’s global economy.

The 2nd e-Government Forum addressed key issues that face the government today, including privacy, security, information management and client uptake. Group discussions took place during the event to discuss the future direction of eGovernment and the provision of timely and accurate eGovernment services to citizens.

EGOV2 is a technology event that brings together many Government datacenter leaders from Kuwait and abroad as well as world-class technology companies to showcase their services, products, policies, and researches for future datacenters. EGOV2 focuses on government datacenters for their role in developing national e-government programs.
